This last Saturday, a few of the team and myself decided we’d hit the streets to minister to the homeless. We prepared toiletry bags and headed for the streets. While out ministering I watched the responses of some of the team as this was their first encounter ministering and evangelizing in this form. My heart was warm by the fact most of who we ministered to wanted prayer. What bothered me was hearing a few of their stories.

One gentleman was very open and shared how he knew Christ AND was once in the “church” but was rejected and kicked out because he struggled with a drug addiction. He went on to say how he was aware of his struggle and attempted to seek help but when he was rejected… it lured him to the streets which is where we found him. We may not know the entire story and may never will… one thing IS for sure; I believe the Lord was pleased because we were intentional to pray with/for him, ensure he knew Christ as his savior and left him with the toiletry bag to which he said “THANK YOU I REALLY NEED this!”

There was a young woman (not pictured) we attempted to minister to but she turned us away in tears… she did share that she felt she was being punished! Someone has
violated her and she feels her punishment was being tossed out to the streets. We got her name and as we walked away (per her request) prayed for her.

We got back in the car (holding back my tears) I began to question the Lord about what we witnessed and I heard Matthew 20:34 “Jesus was deeply moved with compassion toward them…” He said there is NO compassion! As I began to share with the team what the Lord was speaking I saw tears form in the eyes of a few of them and they began to express how they felt by what they experienced.

The moral of the story… don’t be so quick to judge, or turn your back. YES, some are more difficult to handle than others. When you embark upon cases such as this, seek the Lord on a strategy. If their for you He will guide you. If they aren’t they will be redirected.

What's on my mind? A LOT! I'll start with this...
Comparison kills you and slaps God in the face at the same time. Why? Instead of us embracing the grace God gave us with what He has given, we’d rather have what we think we see and hear others have not knowing the cost, the oil, and the sacrifice they’ve given for what we witnessed. You don't want to sound like, smell like, or be like another. You were created in the likeness of God's image! He created you with uniqueness, therefore; that what you do, say, etc will be different than that of another. So embrace the uniqueness of who He created in you and allow yourself to stand out and shine!
