This weekend was all about clearing the way — literally. What you’re seeing here is more than dirt being moved. It’s the beginning of a safe, stable place someone will soon call home.

At Homes for Heroes, we’re not just building structures — we’re restoring dignity, creating stability, and showing our veterans and families that they are not forgotten.

Progress doesn’t always look polished. Sometimes it looks like dust, sweat, and a whole lot of heart.

And we’re just getting started. ❤️

The Dahlonega Woman’s Club is honored to make a donation to Homes 4 Heroes. Presenting the check to David Shanahan, founder of Homes 4 Heroes, are DWC members Dana Gwyn and Dawn Wieniewitz.
Homes 4 Heroes is a nonprofit organization in Dahlonega. Their mission is to provide quality, affordable homes for veterans in need. The funds will be used to help with two projects that Homes 4 Heroes is currently working to complete. The improvements on the veterans’ homes need immediate attention.
These two projects are only the beginning of the efforts of the organization to greatly improve the living conditions of veterans and their families.

Fred lived in a camper.
No heat. No electricity. No running water.

But he never gave up.

This is why Homes 4 Heroes exists…
to stand in the gap for those who have already given so much.

Fred is the first veteran we’re helping … and he won’t be the last. 🇺🇸

Because everyone deserves a place to call home.

This is what building hope actually looks like.

It’s not polished.
It’s not easy.
And it definitely doesn’t happen overnight.

It looks like clearing land.
Pulling what’s been left behind.

For the veterans we serve, stable housing can feel out of reach.

But we believe they deserve more than a “maybe someday.”

They deserve a place to call home.

Homes 4 Heroes is here to do the work—
to restore stability, dignity, and a fresh start.
