🇺🇸 VFW POST 8905 AUXILIARY — HONORING OUR NURSES 🇺🇸
The VFW Post 8905 Auxiliary was proud to show our appreciation to some of the dedicated nurses in our community by presenting them with special Nurse Survival Baskets as a small token of our gratitude.

Nurses give so much of themselves throughout the entire year, providing comfort, compassion, and quality care to those who need it most. Their dedication becomes even more meaningful during the holiday season, when many nurses spend long hours away from their own families and loved ones so they can be there for their patients and the families who depend on them. We recognize that behind every shift is a nurse making sacrifices, offering reassurance, holding a hand, comforting a family, and helping someone through what may be one of the most difficult moments of their life.

To Amy Gayton, Karen Rai, and all of our incredible nurses — thank you for your compassion, your commitment, and the sacrifices you make every day.

❤️ Our Nurses Make a Difference — and we appreciate you! ❤️

🇺🇸 GOLD STAR MOTHER’S AND FAMILY DAY 🇺🇸

Today, the VFW Post 8905 Auxiliary pauses to honor the Gold Star Mothers and Families whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Nation.

Behind every fallen hero is a family who carries their memory forward. Their strength, courage, and sacrifice remind us that the cost of freedom is borne not only by those who serve, but also by the families who love and support them.

To every Gold Star Mother and Gold Star Family: we see you, we honor you, and we stand with you. Your loved ones’ service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

May we always remember their names, honor their service, and keep their families in our hearts.

⭐ Remember • Honor • Respect • Grateful ⭐

🇺🇸 Supporting Our Veterans — Making a Difference

On Monday, VFW Post 8905 Auxiliary member Sheila Perkins visited Tunnel to Towers/U.S.VETS to deliver snacks purchased for their on-site canteen.

Veterans participating in the various programs can earn Veteran Dollars, which they are able to spend in the canteen. Sheila continues to be impressed by the tremendous work being done through this program and the many levels of assistance available to veterans experiencing homelessness.

Their services range from helping veterans get off the streets and into safe housing to providing opportunities for affordable independent living, both on-site and within the community.

During her visit, residents were participating in forklift training to earn their certification, providing them with valuable skills that can lead to employment opportunities. The facility also has a workforce office on-site to assist veterans with job placement and help them take the next step toward independence.

Programs like this demonstrate that supporting our veterans goes far beyond meeting an immediate need—it is about providing the housing, training, employment resources, and encouragement necessary to build a more stable future.

A special thank you to Auxiliary member Sheila Perkins for representing VFW Post 8905 Auxiliary and continuing to support programs that serve our veterans.

💜 VANESSA GUILLÉN DAY — BREAKING THE SILENCE 💜

On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, our community is invited to come together for a powerful day of remembrance, education, awareness, and action in honor of Vanessa Guillén.

This important event will bring attention to issues that continue to impact our military, veteran, and civilian communities, including Military Sexual Trauma (MST), Intimate Partner Violence, and Domestic Violence.

Awareness is only the beginning. By recognizing the signs, supporting survivors, educating our communities, and speaking up, we can help create an environment where every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

📅 Wednesday, September 30, 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
📍 6840 Almeda Rd., Houston, TX 77030

Please join us as we remember Vanessa Guillén, honor survivors, support those whose voices have gone unheard, and continue the work of breaking the silence.

💜 Understand. Support. Advocate for Change.
💜 Recognize the Signs. End the Abuse.
💜 Create Safety. Demand Justice.

Together, we can make a difference.
