Mark your calendars- come join the fun at Cushing Volunteer Fire Department Station on 8/8/2026 for a back to school Play Day in the Water from 1:00pm-5:00pm. We will have an inflatable water slide, kiddie pools, games, fire trucks spraying water, Sno Cones, Popcorn, Drinks and Hot Dogs. This is an event the fire department has put together for the kids in the community to have some fun before going back to school. All kids under the age of 16 must have adult supervision. It’s going to be a blast. Everybody’s welcome so bring family and friends. Hope to see y’all there!!

We would like to thank you all who donates in the community. This will be a long road ahead but only just starting this few short months' time we have gained great support and gaining knowledge daily. We have a very small team right now. If you have any knowledge and skills please come and grow this great resource center for the community.

Please support the Cushing community to help with the raise of city utilities. We have the bills doubled. The fixed income will be really impacted by this increase.

We are 100% transparent:

Sarah will be starting a course tomorrow for grant writing. It is a 6 week course. At the end she will have a certificate to write grants. This will save the non profit $ so we don’t have to out source all the grant writing.

This course did not come out of the non profit earnings.

☀️ Texas heat isn't just uncomfortable—it can be dangerous ☀️

As temperatures continue to climb, it's important to recognize the signs of heat-related illness before a medical emergency occurs. Whether you're working outside, exercising, attending summer events, or simply enjoying time with your family, heat can affect anyone.

✅ Protect yourself and those around you:
• Drink plenty of water—even before you feel thirsty.
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
• Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle.
• Check on neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the heat.

⚠️ Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or has hot, dry skin with a high body temperature, call 911 immediately and begin cooling them while help is on the way.

Let's all do our part to stay safe this summer. A little preparation can prevent a serious emergency.
