We’re proud to share that Alysa Sakkas, President of Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister Cities, Inc., was honored with the People’s Flame Award at Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga 's AANHPI Heritage Month celebration. This recognition reflects the many volunteers, performers, sponsors, and community members who help make the Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival possible each year - supporting the preservation and sharing of Japanese culture to honor our sister city - Toyokawa, Japan.

A loss can erase the tangible history of our community’s existence,” she said. “To the younger generation, we cannot allow more space to be taken away.”
