It's hip to be tipped! 🐱 Have you ever wandered around a shelter, seen kitties who seem to be missing part of their ear, and wondered what it meant?

A tipped ear symbolizes that a cat has been through a TNR (trap-neuter-return program). Tipping an ear symbolizes to other community cat caretakers that the animal has been neutered and vaccinated! These cats previously lived outdoors and were part of a community cat colony before making their way to Furkids.

The tipped ear doesn't affect their daily lives. If anything, it just shows where they came from. All the kitties you see above are available for adoption and ready for their forever homes. You can read more about them at furkids.org/cat-adoptions!

If you have ever spent time volunteering at Furkids Fort and Michele Felker Cat Shelter - you've probably met our resident free roamer: Rooney! 🧡

We rescued this adorable boy back in 2021 from a local animal control and he's made a name for himself here at Furkids. You can often find him in the back rooms at our cat shelter - meowing for treats and being absolutely spoiled by everyone who meets him.

In November 2024, our East Cobb team rescued Mona from a local animal control. For more than a year, she watched as the other cats in her room found homes while she was quietly passed by, again and again. Then one day, everything changed.

A single social media post caught the attention of a very special family. They reached out and said, “Good evening, is Mona still looking for a home? We saw your post and fell in love. We have two 3-year-old female cats who would love to add a sister.”

They scheduled a visit, came to meet her… and the rest is history. Mona, once overlooked, is now right where she belongs. All because someone spoke up for her. Someone made sure she was seen. Someone chose to open their heart. This is the power of social media! 💙

They don't need perfection or constant activity - just a gentle hand and a temporary, soft place to land.

That means most cats & kittens have reduced adoption fees of just $60 for a fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped kitty who’s ready to head home with you. 🎉🐱

Even better? Adoption fees are always waived for our senior cats (8+), as well as FIV+ and FeLV+ kitties.
