As most everyone knows by now, our rescue suffered a severe tragedy this week.
We received in our load of hay (72 rolls) for all the animals at the rescue to get through the rest of the hay feeding season and have a supply for the paddock horses.
In the blink of an eye we lost everything to a fire that broke out in the hay barn.
It has been a two day long process of trying to get the fire manageable, with so many rolls it was definitely not just going to (go out) it will continue to smolder for days for comes.
A huge thank you to the amazing first responders!
We are so incredibly blessed for the love and outreach we have received over these last few days, everyone has been so supportive or helping in any way they can through sharing our story, donating to help us rebuild and finding hay as we went from having more than enough to feed everyone to losing it.
This incredible tragedy was absolutely no one’s fault.
The fire chief is up in the air with what could have happened but his biggest belief is sparks from equipment coming in and out with high winds could have been the perfect combo, we also know spontaneously combustion is on the table which though rare, does and can happen to absolutely anyone with all the right conditions. I agree with our fire chief and know in my heart this was all a freak act of nature that absolutely none of us could have prevented.
Bad things happen sometimes.. we can’t focus on the why and how when we have so much work to do to rebuild.
With the barn being older (over 30 years old and insured for the cost of building it at that time) obviously insurance won’t be covering much of the cost it will be to rebuild in todays time, trust me we’ve called.
If you would like to help please consider donating, sharing or supporting today.
