WKUL 92.1 FM/Cullman Caring for Kids Athlete of the Week for Jan. 6th is Miss Ella Dickerson of Cold Springs High.
In two area games Ella lit it up and secured victories that left no doubt who the top 2A area 11 team is. Miss Dickerson put up 33 pts in a 67-33 rout of Winston County and the 24 against Falkville to improve to 2-0 in area play.
Congratulations Ella and we can’t wait ti watch you and all the Lady Eagles make another run in this years post season.

We want to recognize Travis Barnett as one of our recent Athlete of the Week recipients. Travis recently won the AHSAA State Cross Country Championship for 3A. Travis finished with a time of 16:18. Congratulations Travis we are proud to have you represent our county.

WKUL 92.1 FM/Cullman Caring for Kids Athlete of the Week.

Mr. Jake Harper racked up 282 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns on just 15 carries to lead his Aggies to a 48-21 victory over a Good Hope team with a stingy defense.

Jake was playing for so much more.
Yes, he was playing for a county championship and county bragging rights. Yes he wanted to win for the brothers that he goes to battle in the trenches with every week. Yes he wanted to win for his school and community but behind the scenes of what we all see there was something bigger. You see on October 26th Mrs. Priscilla Diane Smith,Jake’s Grandmother passed away. Going into the game he told his team he would run for 1,000 yards if he could to honor her. Well he made a valiant effort at accomplishing that feat.

We must remember as fans of a game that those kids on that field may be going through things that we have no clue about. Maybe they’ve lost a loved one, maybe they’re struggling with life at home or maybe it’s just an issue with friends or relationships. Whatever it is there is always something bigger than the game on the field.

Congratulations young man and we look forward to what you’ll do the rest of this season and next.

WKUL 92.1 FM/Cullman Caring for Kids Athletes of the week for Oct. 20-26 were Carter Rutherford and Landon Bagwell. These two young men tore it up to clinch the 4A Region 5 championship against a very tough Dora Bulldogs squad.

Bagwell continued to terrorize opposing offenses with his tenacious defense. He tallied 20 tackles, 1tackle for loss, 1qb pressure, 1 sack and a 70 yard fumble recovery for a TD.

Rutherford was a menace on the offensive side of the ball. He brought in four receptions for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Way to go guys and we can’t wait to see the playoff run.

WKUL 92.1 FM/ Cullman Caring for Kids Athlete of the week for 09/29-10/05 is vinemont_high_school football’s Gabriel Herrera. During Vinemonts 56-30 victory over Hanceville Herrera rushed for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns. 91 yards and 2 touchdowns came in the second quarter on just 10 carries. Way to go young man and keep up the hard work. Now go burn it up on Gordo!!!

WKUL 92.1 FM/Cullman Caring for Kids Athletes of the Week for 09/22-09/28 are Good Hope Middle School Volleyballs Kylee Smith and Isabella Guzman. These two girls were a force to be reckoned with during the Cullman County Schools middle school volleyball tournament. Smith was awarded the Gameday Weekly tournament outstanding player and Guzman was the championship match outstanding player. Congratulations ladies and keep up the hard work.
