Come check out the POP table TODAY at the Festhalle Farmers Market. We will have samples of salsa, POP bucks for the little ones to spend at the market, and ✨FREE✨ plants for some kids to take home.

This is a great opportunity for kids to taste some salsa, learn about growing plants and have a little competition in the Fall. They can enter to win prizes at the county fair in October using their own home grown veggies! 🥦 🍓🌱

Come have some family fun and shop local.

🍅 Don’t forget to bring your garden tomatoes! 🍅 We will be judging the tomato contest 😃

Come join in on some fun activities and local shopping at Festhalle this Saturday, July 18.

Our master gardeners will be there with some tasty salsa for testing! We will also be giving away ✨FREE ✨vegetable plant to some lucky kiddos so they can enter their own home grown vegetables into the County Fair this fall! How fun?!

Parents: plant care instructions will be provided if needed. Brown thumbs welcome. 🤗

We will also be tasting and judging the annual tomato contest! YUM! 🍅 So make sure to bring your tastiest tomatoes so you can enter to win.

Don’t stand still too long around this fast-moving vine — it may just overtake you.

Kudzu is a fast-growing, deciduous climbing vine that can quickly cover shrubs, trees, and other vegetation. Originally introduced for erosion control, forage, and ornamental use, kudzu spread widely across the South.

Today, its rapid growth allows it to shade out and smother native plants, creating serious ecological concerns. Kudzu can also serve as a host for pests that affect Alabama agriculture.

Join the 2026 Year of Alabama Invasive Plants Project to raise awareness, improve identification skills and take action against invasive plants.

Bring the whole family to Festhalle this Saturday, July 18, for some fun activities and local shopping.

Our MGs will be hosting the Power of Produce (POP) table! They will have taste testing for everyone and will be giving away POP bucks for kids to spend on local produce, herbs and /or honey. 🍯

The table next to them, also hosted by our MGs, will be giving away ✨FREE✨ vegetable plants 🌱 for kids to grow a vegetable that they could enter in the county fair! Last year we had a +500lbs pumpkin 🎃!

We will also be holding the annual tomato contest. 🍅 So make sure to check your tomatoes. 🍅 Do you have one to enter?

Do you love plants? Do you enjoy learning? Do you love to volunteer your time? Then you are a great candidate to become an Alabama Extension Master Gardener! The Master Gardeners are a great group of folks who love plants and enjoy working together to help bring research based gardening information to Alabama residents. It’s a two-step process that begins with signing up for our Master Gardener class. Early registration opens June 1, but don’t hesitate! Seats fill up fast.
