Nomination of Officer Nikolas Brendel for Officer of the Year

Dear Selection Committee,

It is my honor to formally nominate Officer Nikolas Brendel for the Officer of the Year Award. Officer Brendel exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism, service, and commitment to the mission and values of the Fairfield Glade Police Department.

Officer Brendel is an exceptionally proactive officer whose diligence and intuition allow him to interdict crime before it occurs. His commitment to maintaining a safe community is evident in his daily work, and his performance consistently sets a benchmark for excellence within our department.

Beyond his strong operational performance, Officer Brendel embodies the true spirit of community policing. He routinely attends departmental community-engagement events on his own time, demonstrating a genuine dedication to strengthening the relationship between law enforcement and the residents we serve. His approachability, compassion, and willingness to give of himself reflect the epitome of what community policing is meant to be.

In addition to his service in the field, Officer Brendel distinguishes himself through his remarkable eagerness for continuous improvement and professional development. In 2025 alone, he earned:

Level 1 and Level 2 Tracking and Search & Rescue certifications
Emergency Medical Responder certification and State license
Progress toward completing his Drone Pilot license

These specialized skills significantly enhance the Fairfield Glade Police Department's capabilities and expand the resources available to the entire Cumberland County community. His dedication to gaining knowledge and skills that will benefit others is a testament to his character and commitment to public service.

Officer Brendel's professionalism, initiative, and unwavering work ethic reflect the qualities deserving of recognition as Officer of the Year. His contributions have had a measurable and lasting impact on our department and the community we proudly serve.

Thank you to all who attended the 2025 Police Officer Memorial Ceremony presented by FOP Lodge #38.

Today, we paused to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Police Officer Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who put their lives on the line to protect our communities.

Behind every badge is a story of service and commitment. Behind every name etched in memorial walls are families, friends, and fellow officers who carry their memory every day. We remember not just their loss, but their legacy—the countless lives they touched, the protection they provided, and the oath they upheld with unwavering resolve.

We take this day to express our deepest gratitude. Let us never forget those who gave all. And let us support the families and departments who continue to carry on in their absence.

The service will take place at 11am at the Cumberland County amphitheater, in front of the Art Circle Public Library.

State Senator Paul Bailey will be the keynote Speaker, and FOP Lodge #38 President Dustin Jackson will be the Master of Ceremonies.
