At CRMC, we’re ready for trail emergencies — and everything that comes with them. The first 911 call of the season on the newly opened mountain bike trails brought out the Cuyuna Lakes Bike Rescue team, who rescued the patient on scene before he was transported to CRMC by our ambulance crew for care.
The patient’s vehicle was left at Raven, and there wasn’t a practical way to get his mountain bike back that night. So we made a simple decision: The bike stays with him.
The patient’s personal mountain bike — still covered in red trail dirt — was brought into the hospital and secured in his room overnight.
One of our Bike Rescue team members summed it up: “I actually rescued a bike today.”
