Ms. Bummer decided to try give hatching eggs another go this year and got 13 chicks🐣! The students have been very excited throughout this process. They got to candle the eggs throughout the incubation process, watch them hatch, and now see them grow in the classroom. Overall it has been a great experience!

Unfortunately we cannot keep them so we will be selling the chicks for $5 each. Please contact Ms. Bummer directly to purchase.

Our Horse Judging team took a trip to Twin Buttes for the State Horse Evaluation contest today, and they did not disappoint! The results are as follows:

Kailey Verlinde: Bronze 🥉
Hadley Needham: Silver 🥈
Anna Ames: Gold 🥇 top 15
Emma Hay: Gold 🥇 6th high individual and recognition from the judge for a very professional set of reasons

Overall, the team as a whole won gold and placed 3rd out of 40 teams!

Yesterday, Carmen Bendickson and Heather Kippen joined Ms. Bummer’s Ag III class of Juniors to talk about the process of growing plants. Carmen, who owns the greenhouse in Grenora, talked to the class about their process of growing and transferring all their plants to be ready to sell. To end the visit, the students got to plant different kinds of plants. Carmen and Heather also donated the material and seeds used to the class!

Overall it was a great day!

We held our annual FFA Chapter Banquet last night at the Divide County High School. We had a great turn out from the community! We had the pleasure of State FFA Reporter, Evelyn Seil attending and speaking this year! The awards from the banquet are as follows:

We did our final two weeks of Ag in the Classroom.
The 5th graders learned about where food comes from. The lesson was wrapped up with the making of fruit pizza!

This week the 6th graders learned about layers of soil and the importance of each layer. The lesson was ended with dirt cups!

This week Miss Bummer’s Ag IV
class went to the elementary. They taught the 4th grade about dairy products and where they come from. After the presentation the students were put into groups where they got to make butter in a jar from heavy whipping cream and salt. The 4th graders had a lot of fun and were pleased to get to try their butter at the end after a very hard arm workout.

Something new this year for FFA Week is the farmer appreciation lunch. Go on out to the Noonan Elevator or grad some soup while you haul grain!
