Putting this out there to see who might be around and looking for a horse related job. With show season here and i want to be gone to some shows we could hire another Stablehand or assistant manager type person. Must have quite a bit of horse care experience. If you know how to id things like colic symptoms. Abscess symptoms or other lameness or otherwise acting "off". Know when to give banamine or call the vet. Know how to wrap or make poultice or boot. Notice the little things and the big things when something isnt normal. Learn individual feeding plans for the Seniors. Knowing what to do in extreme weather. Hooking up a trailer. Putting first rides on a c**t. Any of these things would be above average. Full time or part time. But if you dont have that much experience yet you could focus more on cleaning stalls and weighing hay . More general daily chore type stuff. Just seeing who might be out there looking for this type of employment. There are 12 horses here. Barns and stalls and in and out arenas. We are 3 miles north of crooks sd. Excellent hourly wage with bonus possible. Call or text darci 6053590961. And feel free to share this info.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY IN HORSE BARN: Lily says, "we need another Stablehand (chore helper) around here. We are located 3 miles north of Crooks, SD. Very near Sioux Falls.
Our full-time person will be gone approx. Jan. 10-20, so we would consider hiring someone just for this temporary period. It could be M-F a.m.s. Or it could be more. Or, we could hire someone who wants more permanent employment. Schedule is negotiable. Could be part time or could possibly turn in to full time. For a more permanent position, we really need someone with horse experience. Our level of horse care is way above average. We are kind of in between what you would expect in a show barn and what you would expect on more of a ranch. This means, for one thing, that all of the horses here do have stalls in the barns but we don't lock them up in there any more than we have to. It is of course more in the winter. Speaking of winter work, most of our work is inside the barns. We do have to go outside to dump wheelbarrows, put hay out, sometimes clean up the outside pens, check waters, etc. But most of the work is inside during the winter. For the temporary position for a week or two in January (or could be longer) you wouldn't need a whole lot of horse experience. Mostly cleaning stalls, filling hay nets/bags, things like that. We could teach you. We do pay an excellent hourly wage , based on your experience, skills, schedule availability. And we do believe in raises and bonuses based on job performance, teamwork attitude, and dependability, etc. To express interest or get more info., call Darci at 605 359-0961.

Well, after about 25 years, we've done it. We quit! No more nonprofit obligations, etc. The remaining rescue/shelter horses still live here. We are still New Hope Horse Shelter. It's the official, legal name of our property. There is just no nonprofit organization here anymore. We have an LLC setup as Stablehands, LLC. The purpose is to just take care of the horses who live here. Ah, that sounds nice.

Somewhat surprisingly, we have not been able to hire the person/people we are looking for. We were looking for a morning helper (mostly stall cleaning); then we started looking for a full-time person. And so far we have not hired anyone. So, we are still looking. We could still consider full time. But we will happily look at applications for part time / shift work. For example, if you could work certain mornings for a few hours, give us a call. If you could work late afternoon or after 5 until 8pm or so, give us a call. Just let us know what days/hours on a pretty regular weekly basis you would be able to work. Some of the shifts do require quite a bit of horse experience, but some of them could be for more of a beginner. For example, a morning stall cleaner would not have to have horse experience. Full-time and end-of-the-day/evening helpers do need horse experience though. There are 13 horses here, most of them were rescued from starvation when they were young. There are some riding horses here though that is not part of the job unless you decide you want to help teach our horsemanship program at some point. We pay excellent hourly wages and even have a bonus program for certain schedules. If you are interested, Just give us a call or email [email protected] . We will want to know your basic contact info, employment history, education info, and summary of horse experience. We are located about 3 miles north of Crooks, SD. Phone 605 359-0961. email [email protected]. Please share. thanks!

there is someone on facebook who has stolen our name and logo and trying to sell horses using our name. I have received 2 different reports of this. One of the people who contacted me said it's one of those things where they try to collect a deposit. If you are curious or have more info or want to investigate let me know and I will send you the profile link. I have reported this to facebook. we'll see how it goes. I am very sorry for any confusion or skepticism about us this may have caused. We only have one branch, one sanctuary, and this is our official page and we have been a legitimate 501c3 nonprofit for more than 20 years.

Yesterday was Nevaeh's last day here, and we sure will miss her. She goes to high school in Parker, SD. They want their Seniors to do a Senior project, and Nevaea's goal was to complete 40 volunteer hours here. She does have a few older horses at home so she wanted to learn a little about special care for the old guys and gals. And also she wants to go to vet school so her internship here definitely relates. She did way more than 40 hours and definitely beat her goal . Thanks Nevaeh. Have fun at band camp and have a great Senior year and on to college.

Kids going back to school soon so we need to hire a morning chore helper. Hoping for someone who can do at least 3 mornings a week (more if you want), for 3-5 hours each shift. Must have horse experience. If you have worked in a barn situation before, cleaning stalls, etc., that will be extremely helpful. Possible to become full-time down the road, but would not be necessary if you prefer part time. Call or message Darci 605 359-0961. We are 3 miles north of Crooks, SD.
