How wonderful!

We’re very proud of our Children’s Services Librarian, Meghan Duffey, who recently secured a grant from the Florida Wildflower Foundation for a native flower garden at the Fort Walton Beach Public Library.

The FWF’s “Seeds of Knowledge” grant helps libraries create gardens that highlight the beauty and importance of Florida’s native plants and inspire their communities to support our pollinators.

The new garden will be located on the south side of the library, facing U.S. Highway 98.

“Meghan will be planning and hosting programs relating to building our own native flower garden and promoting native planting to our community,” said Library Manager Savannah Cole.

“We are incredibly excited for this grant and proud of Meghan! This was her first time ever applying for a grant, and she succeeded in securing it for us! We look forward to the wonderful programming she hosts for our community.”

The Fort Walton Beach Public Library is located at 185 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, in the heart of downtown Fort Walton Beach.

Hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is 850-833-9590.

The Fort Walton Beach Library is also part of the Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative, which allows patrons to borrow materials from five other city libraries in the cooperative.
