The Wooster/Orrville NAACP, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, held its annual Freedom Fund Dinner at the end of September, bringing the community together to celebrate the organization’s work and recognize several outstanding individuals. ✨

During the evening, honorees were recognized for their commitment, dedication, and contributions to the Wooster/Orrville NAACP and the community.

Wayne County Humane Society wanted to give a big thank you to their top volunteers for their amazing help with parking cars during the 2026 Wayne County Fair!

These volunteers dedicated their time and hard work to help keep parking organized and make the fair experience a little smoother for everyone. We are so grateful for their commitment and willingness to give back to the community. 🐾❤️

📣 One week from today!

The Romich Foundation Makerspace will be presenting at the Wayne County Public Library Main Library on October 22 at 7:00 PM!

Come learn more about how the Makerspace got started, what we do, and how we are helping support local nonprofits and the community through creativity, technology, and hands-on making.

We’ll share more about the work we do, the organizations we partner with, and some of the projects we’ve had the opportunity to create for our community.

Three years ago today, our Makerspace Manager, Izabal Scheibe (formerly Meshew), had the honor of being the keynote speaker at the Wayne County Community Foundation’s Annual Dinner in 2023.

She shared her journey and the experiences that have helped shape her into the young woman she is today. We are incredibly proud of how far she has come and can’t wait to see where her journey takes her in the years ahead!

We look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s Annual Dinner this evening! 🎉💚

Learning Beyond the Classroom! 🌱🏗️

As we continue working toward the new Romich Foundation Makerspace, Wertz Geotechnical Engineering recently visited our new site to conduct soil testing.

While they were on site, we were excited to have students from the Norwayne FFA join us and take part in the process. The students are heavily involved in soil testing competitions, making this a great opportunity to connect what they learn in the classroom with a real-world project happening right in their community.

The team from Wertz took time to explain the testing process and what they were looking for, while also giving the students insight into the career path and opportunities available in geotechnical engineering.

We love seeing our new Makerspace project already creating opportunities for students to learn, ask questions, and gain hands-on experience along the way! We are thankful to Wertz Geotechnical Engineering for including the students and sharing their knowledge with the next generation. 🌱🔬

The Pregnancy Care Center of Wayne County was in need of donor appreciation gifts, so what better gift than something practical that can be enjoyed every day? 🩷🍼

The Romich Foundation Makerspace was happy to create custom tumblers for PCC’s donors—perfect for their morning coffee and a great everyday reminder of the impact their generosity makes in our community. ☕️

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. 💚

You never truly know what someone else may be carrying behind the scenes. A simple “How are you really doing?”, a listening ear, a little patience, or a kind word can mean more than you realize.

Let’s continue to break the stigma, encourage open conversations, and remind the people around us that they don't have to face everything alone.
