Happy Independence Day, Ecuador! Celebrated every August 10, this date marks the Grito de Independencia in Quito back in 1809, the first spark of a movement that would eventually free the country from Spanish rule.

Ecuador is full of surprises: it's home to Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes on the planet, its capital Quito sits higher above sea level than any other in the world, and the country literally takes its name from the equator that runs straight through it.

Feliz Día de la Independencia, Bolivia! On August 6, 1825, Bolivia officially declared its independence after a long and hard fought struggle for freedom that lasted 16 years.

Did you know this country is home to a salt flat so vast it becomes a giant mirror during the rainy season, or a river dolphin found nowhere else in the world? Bolivia's beauty runs as deep as its history, and today we honor both. Happy Independence Day!

¡Feliz Día de la Independencia, Argentina! Few places capture Argentina's scale and spirit like the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage site tucked into the country's northwest. It's fitting scenery for a country that holds its own record: Patagonia is home to the largest dinosaur ever discovered, the Patagotitan, which roamed the region 100 million years ago. Buenos Aires added its own claim to fame as the birthplace of tango in the late 1800s, and on the world stage, Argentina has taken home three FIFA World Cup titles, in 1978, 1986, and 2022. This year, the celebration comes with extra excitement as they push forward in the tournament.
