Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla, when an outnumbered Mexican army pulled off a surprising victory against French forces. And no, it's not Mexico's Independence Day, that's September 16th. While it's not widely celebrated in Mexico itself, in the US it became a moment to honor Mexican heritage and resilience.
Did you know the Church of Santo Domingo in Puebla is home to one of the most breathtaking Baroque chapels in the Americas? Its Rosario Chapel, covered floor to ceiling in gold leaf, was once called the eighth wonder of the world.
Puebla's historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a city with deep colonial roots, iconic cuisine like mole poblano, and a story that goes far beyond one battle.
Today we celebrate the history, the culture, and the people.
