It’s long over due and now is the time to ask for support for Pamela North Tichenor. She has been fighting the muscular disease called Friedrich’s Ataxia. I started a group page and a Public outreach page to help educate about the disease and to help ask for support and fundraising to help Pamela get the help she needs.

Pamela was diagnosed at 13, by age 18 she was using a walker and a manual wheelchair for long distances. Pamela was 21 years old she welcomed a daughter, with the Joy of becoming a Mother also brought sadness that her pregnancy had its toll on her disease that she was no longer able to walk on her own. The weakness of muscles had progressed. Pamela was never able to work, she did have SSI and Medicaid during the early stages of her Ataxia.

MDA provided a Jazzy Chair for Pamela when her arms were no longer strong enough to maneuver the standard wheel chair. At age 22 Pamela met a man at a Fourth of July Church BBQ, a tall, strong, God loving man that overlooked her disability and being a single mom and they fell in love. They have been happily Married and together now for 14 yrs, and together God blessed them with 2 little boys.

So why ask for help and support?

When Pamela became Married, she lost her SSI and Medicaid. Therefore, they do not qualify for those services to help with medical costs, treatments, and equipment. Her husband is a Traveling Welder and is trying to stay busy working locally to be home more often. Standard jobs around here and expensive major medical insurance does not pay enough to cover life’s daily expenses let alone fighting a debilitating disease.

Pamela’s life now consists of needing a handicap lift for her in the bathroom, and bedroom. She is in need of an aide to help her in normal life routines, driving for errands, cleaning, cooking, baths and going to the restroom, but she cannot pay for any of those services.
She needs new batteries for her chair which costs over $800, she could even use a new chair like the one she is currently “borrowing” because her batteries are dead that reclines and lifts up and down, but those are well over $18,000.

But, Pamela has never asked for outside help due to knowing she has nothing to offer, so now she has been accepted to a Stem Cell transplant treatment in San Diego, the treatment is not a cure but a large possibility of restoring her health to a degree of better quality so she may enjoy her family longer. We are praying God has his way and if you feel led to donate and help make this treatment possible and to help with any other needs that she needs like Doctor checkups that she has not gone to due to no insurance we greatly appreciate and ask God to bless you and your family 10 fold for helping us support Pamela.

We will post information to help educate what Friedrich’s Ataxia is, Also post Pamela’s Journey with her treatments and life, her story shall continue ..........
