Why should Coweta restart the K9 program? How does a K9 benefit the community? If the Coweta Fraternal Order of Police is asking for donations, these questions should be answered.
Attached is two article clippings referencing Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is more dangerous than He**in.
The number one drug found in Coweta is close between He**in and Methamphetamine, the second highest drug found in Coweta is Fentanyl which is easily becoming the number one drug, officers are seeing on the streets locally.
Why is Fentanyl becoming the number one drug of choice? It’s cheaper to obtain an addicts High because it takes less amount of drug to get the High BUT it also takes less to overdose.
Fentanyl comes in all types of colors and forms which is scary if we start seeing this drug within our schools. We need to stop it from ever happening.
Other reasons other than locating hard and dangerous controlled drugs the community can benefit from having a K9 for the following reasons;
1) if we slow the drug business down in Coweta, our more serious crimes and property crimes will decrease.
2) K9’s can locate evidence dropped or thrown from a suspect.
3) K9’s can track the scent of a suspect helping officers quickly locate and apprehend them.
4) K9 will go into our schools helping keep our kids safe from controlled dangerous substances. Fentanyl can be pressed into pill form of all shapes color and sizes that can resemble candy.
The Coweta FOP appreciates any and all donations for this cause. Thank You
