Our first JAKES event of the 2026 season is in the books!
The VA250 Celebration was packed, and the kids had an absolute blast. We welcomed 108 kids through our activities, giving them the opportunity to shoot at the BB 🔫 range or test their skills at the Nerf Turkey Shoot.
For many of these kids, it was their very first time handling or shooting a 🔫 , making it an exciting and memorable experience. Seeing their smiles and confidence grow throughout the day is exactly what JAKES is all about.
A special thank you to the Alleghany FFA students and their advisor, Mrs. Reed, for their support and help in making this event a success.
We can't wait to do it again, we'll be back at StreetScene!

We want to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended our annual NWTF banquet! Your continued support, generosity, and willingness to show up year after year truly means the world to us. Because of you, we’re able to raise funds for an incredible cause and continue supporting conservation and our hunting heritage.
It was a fantastic night, and we couldn’t do it without each and every one of you!
We’d also like to recognize and congratulate two outstanding young individuals: 🏆 Brody Hughes – State JAKES 8 & Under Essay Winner
🎓 Braylon Johnston – Scholarship Recipient
We are proud of you both and excited to see what the future holds!

Just a reminder that our annual NWTF banquet is today, and we’re looking forward to seeing you there!

Please note we have a new location this year:
Curtis A. Smith VFW Building in 710 E Dolly Ann Drive, Covinton.

Doors will open at 4:00 PM.

To help accommodate everyone, we kindly ask that you save the parking spaces closest to the building for those who need handicap access. Additional parking is available next door at Altamont Park, with a short, easy 50-yard walking path that connects directly to the VFW.
