WOW!! Our families really know how to show up for their children!! Last Thursday, we had our Mother’s Day Luncheon and our Field Day Work Day. We had 16 moms, grandmas and aunts join us for lunch and spend time in their child’s classroom. We had 4 moms come to help work on Field Day prep. Thank you to EVERYONE that participated in that day! You are teaching your child that school is important and they matter. To most people it was just lunch, to all the kids….it’s everything!! You are all appreciated!! Also, we want to send a big thank you out to Wabash Flowers here in Covington and Attica Floral for donating the beautiful flowers for us to hand out to everyone at our Mother’s Day Luncheon!!❤️

At Head Start, our sensory tables are open every day for children to enhance large and small motor skills, math and science skills, and social interactions among peers, We use water, beans, snow, rice, leaves, twigs and pinecones among many, many other items. The list of sensory table fillers is endless! By changing the items in the table from time to time, children are exposed to new textures, vocabulary, temperatures, and sounds.

A sensory table doesn’t have to be big! A simple tote, plastic shoebox, sink, tub, can serve as a sensory table inside or outside of your home! You can add dirt/mud, scoops, recyclable materials such as food containers, leaves, etc to encourage your child to explore many different items . Summer is coming up and it’s a great time to create a sensory bin!

Do you know the importance of songs and finger plays in early childhood? They offer numerous developmental benefits for children. They increase language development, rhyming, vocabulary, enhance motor skills by mimicking movement, foster social emotional growth and connections between children and adults, and increase cognitive skills to stimulate memory and cognitive abilities. These are just a few of the benefits. Ask your child to teach you songs and finger plays they have learned at school!
