Important Update for Nevada County CalFresh (SNAP) Recipients

As many of you have heard, the federal government has shut down because lawmakers in Washington couldn’t agree on a funding plan.

Here’s what that means for CalFresh benefits:

✅ October benefits should go out as normal.
Experts say October payments were already processed before the shutdown began.

⚠️ November benefits are uncertain.
If the shutdown continues, the USDA has said there may not be enough funds to pay full SNAP benefits next month. While there’s no official word yet for Nevada County, this could mean delays or smaller benefit amounts in November.

What you can do right now:
🛒 Try to stretch your October benefits a little further, if possible.
📱 Make sure your contact information is up to date with the county so you don’t miss important updates.
💬 Stay informed through official sources like the California Department of Social Services and Nevada County Health & Human Services.
🥕 Reach out now for local food support: organizations like IFM and Food Bank of Nevada County are here to help if you need groceries.

At IFM, we know these benefits are a lifeline for many families. We were founded nearly 40 years ago because our community realized we’re stronger together, and that’s still true today.

We’ll keep sharing updates as we learn more. In the meantime, remember: you’re not alone, and IFM is here for you. 💛

Here is a link on how to receive food from IFM: https://www.interfaithfoodministry.org/how-to-get-food.html

We also recommend utilizing our reservation system for a smoother process with less wait time: https://www.interfaithfoodministry.org/new-reservations.html

9.3.25 Community Support Network Meeting - Su***de Prevention!

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness, promote hope, normalize help-seeking, a month to remember the lives lost to su***de, the millions of people who have struggled or do struggle with suicidal ideation. Su***de affects millions of people every year, yet too many struggle in silence.

Whether you’re facing challenges, supporting a friend or loved one, or are looking to help, your voice and prevention efforts matter. This month is dedicated to recognizing the warning signs for su***de, encouraging open conversations about mental health/suicidal ideation, and connecting people to proven treatment and resources. When we stand together in strength, dignity, hope, and purpose, we can make a difference — we can help save lives.

Please scan the QR Code on the flyer or click on the link below to register to attend the meeting.
