Now hear this!
Volusia Valor Days is proud to welcome a very special guest speaker this year, William R. Hogan, who will be joining us to share the remarkable story of his father and the armored soldiers who fought across Europe during World War II.
William Hogan is the son of Colonel Robert B. Hogan, commander of the legendary Task Force Hogan, a powerful armored combat formation of the U.S. Army’s 3rd Armored Division during the war in Europe. Task Force Hogan played a key role in the hard-fought campaigns of 1944–1945, including the brutal winter battles of the Battle of the Bulge, where American armored forces helped blunt and ultimately defeat Hitler’s last major offensive in the West.
Drawing from family history, research, and firsthand accounts, William Hogan will discuss the formation and combat operations of Task Force Hogan, as well as the broader story of U.S. armored warfare in World War II; the tanks, tactics, and soldiers that helped drive Allied forces across Nazi-occupied Europe.
This is a rare opportunity to hear the personal story behind one of the U.S. Army’s wartime armored commanders and gain deeper insight into the men and machines that carried the fight to the enemy.
