🎉💛 What an AMAZING Staff Appreciation Week at Longfellow! 💛🎉

At Longfellow, we don’t just celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day… we celebrate our entire staff with a full STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK! 🍎✨ From our teachers and paras to office staff, custodians, cafeteria staff, specialists, and everyone in between — we are so thankful for all they do for our students every single day.

We had SO much fun planning this week and hope our staff felt extra loved and appreciated! ❤️

Here’s a look at all the fun:

💧 Monday – Hydration Station

Staff could choose water or lemonade and customize their drinks with fun flavored drink packets.

🥤 Tuesday – DIY Dirty Soda Bar

We provided:
• Soda
• Flavored syrups
• Cream

We created delicious teacher-themed drink recipes for both days. (Menus are included in the photos! 🍋🥤)

🏀 Tuesday Surprise – Recess Bags for Every Grade Level!

Each grade received a bag filled with fun recess goodies including:
• 4–6 basketballs (bigger or smaller sized depending on grade) 🏀
• Soft dodgeballs for our littlest lions 🦁
• 5 small kickballs ⚽
• 3 frisbees 🥏
• 2 big chalk sets 🎨
• 15 fun bubble wands + giant bubble solution 🫧

We hope our students are loving all the new recess fun!

🍦 Wednesday – Make Your Own Ice Cream Float Station

We provided:
• Ice cream
• Different soda flavors
• Whipped cream toppings

Such a sweet treat! 🍒🥤

🍿 Thursday – Popcorn Bar

Fresh popcorn with lots of delicious seasoning flavors to choose from! The staff lounge smelled AMAZING all day. 😍

🧖‍♀️✨ Friday – Self Care Bar

We always save our biggest day for last! Our staff works so hard caring for our students, so we wanted to encourage them to take a little time for themselves too. ❤️

The self-care bar included:
• Face masks
• Under eye masks
• Foot masks
• Hand creams
• Body wash & soaps
• Bath bombs
• Pimple patches
• Sunscreen
• Hand sanitizer
• Deodorant
• And more!

We also made sure not to leave out our male staff members by including:

• Solid cologne
• Beard care products
• Men’s deodorants
• Other Specialized self-care items

We truly had so much fun planning each day, shopping for items, and creating all the signs and recipes. 🥰

Last Friday, our Penny Wars champions celebrated in the sweetest way! 🎉

3rd Grade and Kindergarten, our 1st and 2nd place winners, enjoyed their well-earned ice cream parties.

Congratulations to these awesome students, and a huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported our Penny Wars fundraiser. Together, we raised an incredible $1,526.10!

Every dollar will go right back into supporting the students and staff at Longfellow—we appreciate this community so much! 💛

🚨🚨ATTENTION 5TH GRADE FAMILIES!!!🚨🚨

At the end of the year, the PTO likes to organize an event that is special for the 5th graders. We call it the 5th Grade Celebration. The PTO has rented out The Hub, for the kids to jump and play for an hour. They will then have pizza and be taken back to the school by bus. Once at the school, the kids will watch a movie (movie to be determined) in the auditorium, where they will have snacks and drinks (think a full on concession stand!). This is the celebration we have done for the last 3 years and it is always a huge hit! The kids have so much fun, and honestly, we do, too!

This event is free for your child. However, in an effort to help offset costs to the PTO, we are asking for any donations that you may be willing to send in. I have attached a link to a signupgenius, with items needed for the movie event portion of the day. These items are for the "concession stand" that will be available with snacks and drinks. We are also asking for any monetary donations to assist in offsetting costs. Again, regardless of donations sent or received, the celebration will take place and donations are not required for your student to join the fun.

The breakdown of the costs for the event are as follows:
The Hub: $16/per jumper (70 kids). This includes the cost of their socks.
The Hub, pizza: $14.99/pizza (ordered 10 pizzas, cut party style - we will order more pizzas onsite, if needed)
Snacks: Cost for snacks for the concession stand will depend on donations received. However, historically, it has run us between $200-$300

A little late, but we couldn’t let this go unshared!

Last week, the PTO treated our students to some fun goodies during testing week. While not all of our Lions were testing, we’re all about making sure no one feels left out—so our Little Lions got in on the fun too!

Our testing Lions received pencils, stickers, and Jolly Ranchers, while our Little Lions enjoyed stickers and Dum Dum suckers. And can we talk about how adorable those sensory stickers are?! 😍

We’re so proud of all our test-taking Lions and know they did an amazing job!
These treats—along with so many others throughout the year—are made possible by your continued support. Truly, no gesture is too small, and we love being able to include everyone.

WOW—what a CRAZY final day of our K-Pop Demon Hunters Penny Wars! 🎤🔥

Kindergarten has held the lead since Tuesday, but in a shocking last-minute twist, a HUGE $200 online donation (earning DOUBLE POINTS 💥) came in for 3rd Grade… pushing them past Kindergarten and into 1st place!

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS to our 2026 Penny Wars CHAMPIONS — 3rd Grade!! 🎉

Each 3rd grade class will get to celebrate with a classroom party of their choice: 🍿 Popcorn Party, 🍦 Ice Cream Party, or 🍕 Pizza Party—ALL sponsored by the PTO!

Here are the FINAL standings:
🥇 1st Place – 3rd Grade – 68,807 points
🥈 2nd Place – Kindergarten – 65,226 points
3rd – 2nd Grade – 45,779 points
4th – 4th Grade – 32,041 points
5th – 1st Grade – 20,465 points

7th – Pre-K – 4,761 points

Because it was such a close finish and Kindergarten fought hard ALL week, we’re excited to share that they will also be receiving a special prize! 💛
