We are a nonprofit, community-based club with the objective to educate members about horticulture, increase interest in gardening, participate in civic beautification, encourage the floral arts and participate in flower shows, and to sponsor garden tours. Cottonwood Garden Club is a community-based organization with the objective to educate its members about horticulture, to increase interest in a
mateur gardening as well as bird and beneficial insect life, to participate in civic beautification, to encourage the floral arts and participate in flower shows, and to sponsor garden tours. The Cottonwood Garden Club meets the third Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m., September through June at the Creekside Church, 3320 Brush Street, Cottonwood (corner of Brush and High Streets). Meetings are a time to connect and communicate with other local gardeners. Meetings include informative programs featuring local speakers knowledgeable in various fields related to horticulture. Programs have been led by college instructors, farmers and beekeepers, to name a few. During our monthly meetings, we discuss our contribution to community, share seeds and/or cuttings with one another and enjoy a potluck luncheon. Projects:
Front Street Park: Created in the early 1960s and maintained by our garden club since then, the park, located across the street from the post office at the intersection of Front and Walnut Streets, is leased from the Union Pacific Railroad for one dollar for ninety-nine years. We maintain and beautify the park for the enjoyment of the community. Penny Pines: Cottonwood Garden Club contributes annually to the U.S. Forest Service by purchasing pine seedlings to reforest the areas that have been burned by forest fires or impacted by other disasters in our area. Creekside Church Garden: Our club members maintain and beautify the church gardens in appreciation for offering a gathering place for the club’s monthly meetings.
