🐔 Meet Poppy, Polly & Bowie!

It's time to introduce the last of our newest feathered friends at Peyton's Place—our three fluffy white Silkies!

Silkies are easy to spot because of their soft, fluffy feathers that look more like fur than typical chicken feathers. They also have feathered feet, dark skin, and five toes instead of the four most chickens have. With all that fluff, it's easy to see why they're such a fun breed to have around the barn!

While these three may look similar, their personalities make them a little easier to tell apart.

🩷Polly is the smallest of the three and tends to be our little observer. She's a bit more reserved and likes to take everything in before deciding if she wants to join the action.

💜 Poppy is more outgoing and curious. If you're trying to figure out which girl is Poppy, look for the purple band on her leg!

🐓 Bowie is our rooster and is also a little more outgoing. He recently discovered his voice and has started practicing his crow! He's quite a bit bigger than Nugget, but we're not sure Nugget is ready to give up his title as the loudest little rooster in the barn.

Silkies are known for being a gentle and friendly breed, and we're excited for Poppy, Polly and Bowie to become familiar faces around Peyton's Place.

Next time you visit, see if you can tell all three apart!

Then & Now: Abednego!

From one tiny piglet to one VERY big pig!

When Abednego first came to us, he was just a little Kune Kune piglet alongside his brothers, Shadrach and Meshach. It's safe to say he didn't stay little for very long!

Today, Abednego is the biggest of the three brothers and quite possibly the laziest. If there's an opportunity for a nap, you can usually count on Abednego to take it. And if you really want to make his day, give him a good belly rub! He'll happily stretch out and soak up all the attention.

Lately, he's also discovered a new favorite pastime: bath time! Whether it's an actual bath or turning his pool-style water trough into his own personal soaking tub, Abednego is perfectly happy to climb in, cool off, and make himself comfortable. 🐷

It's hard to look back at that tiny piglet and believe he's the same Abednego we know today. He may be much bigger now, but his laid-back personality has only gotten bigger right along with him.

We love getting to look back and see just how much our animals have grown! ❤️

Sometimes it is the smallest moments that have the biggest impact. These cherished moments are the reason behind everything we do. ❤️

At Peyton's Place, we believe children should have a place where they don't have to hurry, fit into a crowd, or experience things the same way as everyone else.

That's why our visits are centered around one family at a time. There is room to slow down, explore the barn, spend time with the animals, take a break when needed, and simply enjoy being together.

For one child, the best part of a visit might be brushing a pony. For another, it might be holding a rabbit, feeding a goat, playing with the trains, or just taking a break in the sensory room.

There isn't one "right" way to experience Peyton's Place, but a million possibilities for making the experience their own.

Our hope is simply to provide a place where children and families feel welcomed, understood, and free to enjoy the barn in the way that feels right for them. ❤️

🐔 Meet Goldie & Pepper!

These sweet sisters are two of the newer little faces at Peyton's Place!

Goldie and Pepper are Mille Fleur d'Uccle bantams, a small breed of chicken known for their beautiful, colorful feathers and feathered legs and feet. Their name "Mille Fleur" means "thousand flowers" in French. This is a perfect description for the tiny spots and patterns covering their feathers. 🌼

Goldie and Pepper tend to be a little more reserved than some of our other chickens, but don't mistake quiet for boring! They are incredibly curious and like to keep an eye on everything happening around the barn.

Their absolute favorite place to be is on their swings. You'll often find both girls perched up high, swinging away and watching what's going on around them. If you really want to win them over, snacks are the way to their hearts, especially mealworms!

So how do you tell these sisters apart? Pepper lives up to her name with more speckles throughout her feathers, giving her an overall "peppered" look. Goldie has more of that beautiful golden-orange coloring.

They may look pretty similar at first glance, but once you know what to look for, you'll start spotting the differences!

Think you can tell Goldie and Pepper apart? Take a guess when you look through their pictures! 🐔❤️

Then & Now: Paul🐐❤️

Some things change and some things definitely don't!

Paul came to us as a tiny Nigerian Dwarf goat who was bottle-fed and loved being right in the middle of everything. From the very beginning, he had a big personality packed into a very little body.

Fast forward to today, and Paul is strong, funny, confident, and still convinced he's the main character of the goat herd. He loves attention, isn't afraid to make his presence known, and has been one of the familiar faces at Peyton's Place from the very beginning.

It's hard to believe the little goat in that bottle-feeding video grew into the Peter we know today, but that personality was there from day one!

We love getting to look back at where our animals started and see just how much they've grown. ❤️

Sometimes friendship looks like a little stroll around the barn with your bunny in a shopping cart. 🛒🐰

It's the simple moments like these that make days at Peyton's Place so special.
