🌱 BEHAVIOR IS COMMUNICATION.

Sometimes a child isn’t “being difficult.”

They may be saying:

💚 “It’s too loud.”
💚 “I don’t understand what’s happening.”
💚 “I need to move.”
💚 “This change feels scary.”
💚 “My body feels overwhelmed.”
💚 “I need a break.”
💚 “I can’t find the words to tell you what I need.”

A meltdown isn’t a tantrum.
Stimming isn’t something that needs to be stopped simply because it looks different.
Needing accommodations isn’t “getting special treatment.”

When we stop asking “How do I make this behavior stop?” and start asking “What is this person trying to communicate?”, we create space for understanding, regulation, and connection.

At Sprout & Soar, we believe neurodivergent children AND adults deserve environments where their needs are understood—not punished. 🌱

Different brains. Different needs. Same right to feel safe, supported, and included.

Autistic girls are still too often overlooked. 💗

Why? Because autism doesn’t always look the way people expect it to.

Girls may learn to mask early—copying their peers, rehearsing conversations, hiding their stims, and smiling through sensory overload. From the outside, they may look like they’re doing just fine. Inside, they may be exhausted from trying to fit into a world that wasn’t designed for them.

Sometimes the signs weren’t “missed.”
They were hidden behind a really good mask. 🧩🌿

More awareness means more girls being seen, understood, and supported.

“There’s nothing for kids to do around here.”

I hear this all the time.

And I agree. Our community deserves more opportunities for children and families to play, connect, and feel included.

But at some point, somebody has to stop saying “somebody should do something” and actually start building it.

That’s what I’m trying to do with Sprout & Soar.

We’re planning a spring community festival focused on growth, inclusion, movement, and connection—with activities for kids, sensory-friendly spaces, local vendors, community organizations, and opportunities for families to come together.

But I can’t build it alone.

I’m looking for people who are willing to say:

“Okay. I’ll help.”

You don’t need nonprofit experience.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You don’t need to commit to running the entire event.

Maybe you’re great at organizing.
Maybe you know local businesses.
Maybe you love working with kids.
Maybe you’re good at fundraising.
Maybe you can recruit vendors.
Maybe you have a truck and don’t mind hauling things.
Maybe you just care about making our community better.

Whatever your skill is, there is probably a place for you.

So if you’ve ever said “there’s nothing for kids to do here,” here’s your chance to help change that.

Don’t just tell me what our community needs. Come help me build it.

Message Sprout & Soar if you want to be part of the team. 💙
