Lone Star Love for Tanzania

A quick update on our last full day here in Tanzania. This trip has been both wonderful and very emotionally heavy.

We have been welcomed into the homes of many people who are experiencing great sorrow. A young man who lost his wife suddenly 2 days ago and is trying to figure out how to care for their 2 small children. A family who lost a child to illness because they couldn’t afford to take them to the hospital. A mother struggling to raise her 8 children with no electricity, running water, or even a proper home - the children sleep on the dirt floor.

We have been embraced by smiling children and hugged by those grateful for the support our organization is providing for their children and families. We have seen the impact that your generosity is making in this place! We have listened to the children tell us their dreams for the future - to be a doctor, teacher, nurse, lawyer.

Above all, we have been honored to share the word of God and the love of Jesus and to love and be loved by the people here!

33 hours after leaving home, we are in Tanzania and ready for some sleep! Tomorrow we travel to Gorfan (about 4 hours away) and really get started. We are so grateful for God’s protection and work in getting us here. Please pray that He moves in great ways during the coming days!

On World Book Day, we’re celebrating the power of books to open doors, spark imagination, and create opportunity—especially for children.

In the communities where Lone Star Love for Tanzania serves, access to books is often limited. Many classrooms have few reading materials, and some children may not own a single book of their own. Yet the desire to learn is strong. When children have opportunities to read, listen to stories, and practice early learning skills, it strengthens their confidence and helps prepare them for a brighter future.

Through our efforts to support early and ongoing education, we are encouraging literacy and nurturing a love of learning among children in Tanzania.

Sponsorship Spotlight Wednesday - Samwel Lohay

Samwel has experienced far more sorrow than any child should ever have to face. Last year, his mother was murdered, leaving his dad to raise him on his own.
