Here are 5 facts about leprechauns:
.They are shoemakers: Leprechauns spend their time making and mending shoes, often working alone, which is why you might hear the tapping sound of their hammer.
.They guard pots of gold: Legend says they hide their gold in a pot at the end of a rainbow, a treasure they guard fiercely.
.They are tricky and solitary: These mischievous, quick-witted beings live solitary lives and are known for playing tricks and being hard to catch.
.Capturing them grants wishes: If you catch one, he must grant you three wishes in exchange for his freedom, but you must keep your eyes on him at all times.
.Modern image is a mix: While traditionally described as wearing red, the familiar green-clad leprechaun is a more modern invention, and their link to St. Patrick's Day is largely due to popular culture.
