There are certain moments as a group when you show up fully believing you are going to bless others… and then reality humbles you, because you walk away realizing you were the one truly blessed.

God has opened these service projects for our club in ways that continue to feed our souls and remind us why service matters. Tonight was another one of those moments.

We can not thank Lion Scott and the 53:5 Faith Fitness Recovery Fellowship enough for allowing us to be part of this mission. The conversations, the hugs, the prayers, and the reminders that every person deserves love and hope impacted all of us deeply.

Service is not always about what you hand out. Sometimes it is simply showing up so people know they are seen and valued.

We will be back out serving again in June and would love for anyone with a heart to serve to join us.

You know your club is something special when 23 Lions show up for a monthly meeting ready to serve.

Tonight we shared 12 praise reports, celebrated 1 induction, presented 1 Guiding Lantern Award, recognized 1 graduate, and then got to work stuffing 160 bags for our 53:5 Recovery fellowship walk tomorrow evening.

This group of Lions shows up and serves with heart. We don’t just talk about serving our community — we do it.

The excitement is real and our hearts are full! We are beyond excited to celebrate alongside Texas Lions Camp and all of the incredible campers. This is the moment so many families, volunteers, and Lions have been waiting for.

Corpus Christi By The Bay Lions Club is looking forward to visiting camp in June and celebrating the amazing accomplishments, friendships, memories, and milestones made throughout the camp season.

News Release #12: The Storm After the Storm; TLC is LICENSED for the Summer of 2026!!!

A statement from the President & CEO of Texas Lions Camp, Inc.

Kerrville, Texas. [May 19, 2026] — This just in: TLC has been Licensed by DSHS for the Summer of 2026! The staff and I have been working since September of last year for today's arrival of this exciting and mission critical news.

I want to thank members of my stellar executive team, namely, Steven King - SVP, Karen-Anne King - VP of Summer Camps, and Ken Folsom-Director of Maintenance, without whose expert intervention, this news release might have come later or be announcing something very different altogether.

Thank you to the staff of Texas Lions Camp, all of whom have made contributions under tight timeframes and high stakes while having an occupied boss. I would be remiss if I did not also thank our camper families and many constituents for your patience and voiced support during these unprecedented events.

Lastly, I want to thank DSHS and their staff for so diligently working to review, comment on and respond to our application. To the Office of Emergency Management, to the State Fire Marshall, to our local Fire Marshall Jason Lackey as well as the many vendors answering our call for assistance (who I will highlight in a separate release regarding upgrades to the facility).

Celebrate quickly, because we open the season in less than two weeks with our first session on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Welcome to TLC!

Today our Corpus Christi By The Bay Lions Club set out for our monthly Salinas Park clean up throughCorpus Christi Park and Rec. This is always one of our favorite service projects because we love helping keep this accessible park clean and welcoming for all of our friends and families in the community.

Our Lions also surprised our Secretary, Lion Michelle, with cake and a birthday song after the project. Moments like this remind us that Lions truly become family. Serving together, laughing together, and celebrating each other is what makes this club so special.

We absolutely love getting Amazon surprises for our Recovery Service Project! The generosity from our community has been incredible. Because of your donations, we will now be stuffing 160 drawstring bags filled with hygiene products, socks, body wipes, and pamphlets sharing how and where individuals can receive help and support.

We are still in need of snack items for the brown bags that will be handed out alongside sandwiches, drinks, and encouragement.

Thank you, Corpus Christi, for continuing to come together and support this amazing partnership with 35:5 Recovery. Together we truly are making a difference in the lives of others.

Our next outreach delivery will take place Friday, May 22, and we would love your help keeping this project going strong.

Today two of our Lions spent the day at ESC2 getting certified to assist the school district with hearing screenings. In Texas, these screenings are a mandatory requirement and we are proud to now have Lions ready to serve our local district through both hearing and vision screenings.

This afternoon three of our Lions had the opportunity to assist Habitat for Humanity with a home build. What an honor it was to be part of such an amazing blessing.

We had the privilege of meeting the mother who will be receiving this home, and from that moment on we knew we were exactly where we were meant to be. Seeing the hope, excitement, and gratitude reminded us why service matters so much.

This project is far from over and our Lions are committed to continuing to help through the very end. Serving with heart means showing up, putting in the work, and walking alongside others during life-changing moments like this.

We are grateful to have been part of something so meaningful today. ❤️🦁
