🐾 Please help our sweet Ellie Mae! 🐾
We pulled Ellie Mae, formerly known as Sprint, from Corpus Christi Animal Care Services. She had a cloudy eye and a positive heartworm diagnosis but she is the sweetest girl and when she found herself on the euthanasia list, we knew we had to help her 💜
After being evaluated by a veterinarian, we were told that Ellie Mae’s eye was the result of blunt force trauma from being hit by a person or a vehicle 💔 Despite everything she had been through, this sweet girl is resilient! She was opening up and thriving in her foster home! She learned she can trust people and made friends with the resident cats and dogs that she is sharing a home with! 🐱 🐶 🏠
We began her heartworm treatment and, thankfully, she was even pre-adopted and has a loving new life waiting for her! But then, unexpectedly, Ellie Mae developed severe swelling in her already cloudy eye and had to be rushed to an emergency veterinarian 🚑
Between the emergency visit, testing, medications, and treatment for her eye, we have already spent an additional $500 on her care, not including her heartworm treatment. We are now facing another $200+ for a consultation with a veterinary ophthalmologist 🏥
Unfortunately, specialized veterinary ophthalmology services are not available here in Corpus Christi, so Ellie Mae will need to make the 2.5-hour trip each way to the San Antonio area to receive the care she needs 🚗
With this testing and medication, we can finally send this beautiful girl on her way to the loving life she deserves 🐾
