We Are District 6 (CbHIMA) of the Texas Health Information Management Association (TxHIMA) which is a component state association of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). In addition, they may apply the science of informatics to the collection, storage, analysis, use, and transmission of information to meet legal, professional, ethical and administrative records-keeping r
equirements of health care delivery. They work with clinical, epidemiological, demographic, financial, reference, and coded healthcare data. Health information administrators have been described to "play a critical role in the delivery of healthcare in the United States through their focus on the collection, maintenance and use of quality data to support the information-intensive and information-reliant healthcare system"
HIM professionals do not just work in hospitals. They work for accounting firms, insurance companies, information systems vendors, government agencies, pharmaceutical research companies, and others. Wide varieties of employers actively recruit health information managers. According to the department of labor, employment opportunities for Health Information Management (HIM) professionals continue to grow much faster that the average for all occupations.
