💙 A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHO WE ARE AT ANGELS OVER CLIFFS 💙

I feel like I need to have a heart-to-heart with our community about who Angels Over Cliffs is, who we serve, and what our program actually looks like.

First, let me say this…

I am SO sorry when someone reaches out to us for help and we aren't able to help them. I know what it's like to be in a difficult situation and desperately need someone to come alongside you.

Please know that when we say, “We can't help with that,” it is NEVER because we don't care.

It is because we are a small nonprofit with a very specific mission, limited resources, limited funding and limited capacity.

The harvest is HUGE, but the workers are few.

Angels Over Cliffs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit specifically focused on helping people experiencing homelessness in the Corona-Norco area.

Our heart is for the HIDDEN HOMELESS, families with children and individuals who have fallen through the cracks.

These are people who have experienced a crisis or a really hard season of life. A job was lost. A loved one passed away. A car broke down and they couldn't get to work. An illness happened. Something changed, and suddenly they found themselves living in a motel, their car, a shelter or another unstable situation.

Many of the people we serve are working or have some type of income, but they simply cannot make enough to get out of the situation they're in.

And that's where we come alongside them.

🏠 BUT HERE'S SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT THAT I WANT OUR COMMUNITY TO UNDERSTAND:

ANGELS OVER CLIFFS IS NOT A CRISIS EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM.

If you call us today because you need rent paid tomorrow, a hotel room tonight, diapers today, a car, utility assistance or emergency financial assistance, we may not be the organization that can meet that immediate need.

Getting into our program takes TIME.

There is usually a WAIT LIST.

It can take at least a week or so just to go through the process of getting into our program, and sometimes longer depending on our current capacity.

Why?

Because we intentionally work with a limited number of families at a time.

We focus on approximately 20 families at a time.

We walk alongside those families through our program, help them work toward stability and permanent housing, and when they graduate from the program, we are then able to bring new families in.

We don't want to take on more people than we can actually walk alongside well.

Because when you enter Angels Over Cliffs, you're not just getting a handout.

You're getting a HAND UP. ❤️

And that comes with some expectations.

To qualify for our program, you must be experiencing homelessness in the Corona-Norco area.

You must have income or be actively working toward obtaining income.

You must be willing to work toward sobriety and stability.

And most importantly…

YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO BE THE CHANGE THAT YOU SEEK.

That doesn't mean we expect perfection.

It means we're going to love you enough to be honest with you.

If you keep doing the same things, making the same choices and repeating the same patterns, you're going to continue getting the same results.

We're here to help you get OUT of that cycle.

We're here to help you get out of your comfort zone.

We're here to dig deep.

We're here to help you identify the things that are keeping you stuck and then walk alongside you as you work toward changing them.

Because our goal isn't just to get you housed.

Our goal is to change the trajectory of your life.

We want to see you become stable.

We want to see you become self-sufficient.

We want to see you gain confidence, learn new skills, heal, grow and ultimately be able to say, “I did it.”

And yes, that means there are expectations.

If your goal is to remain dependent on welfare and government assistance indefinitely without working toward independence, our program probably isn't the right program for you.

And I'm not saying that to shame anyone.

There is NO shame in needing help.

There is NO shame in accepting assistance when you need it.

There is NO shame in being in a hard season.

But our program is designed for people who are ready to work toward something different.

We're going to meet you where you are…

BUT WE ARE NOT GOING TO LEAVE YOU THERE. ❤️

Our wraparound system includes:

📚 Education & Life Skills
❤️ Counseling Services
👧 Kids Program
🍎 Basic Needs
🙏 Faith-based support & Bible Study
🤝 Case Management & Resource Navigation

We walk alongside people experiencing homelessness and help them work toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Now, another important piece…

WE DO NOT HAVE AN OPEN-ENDED COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

We don't have a general rental assistance fund.

We don't have a program where anyone in the community can call and request diapers.

We don't hand out cars.

We don't pay everyone's utility bills.

We don't have unlimited motel vouchers.

We simply don't have the resources to do all of those things.

And as a nonprofit whose mission is specifically focused on homelessness, we have to stay within the purpose of our organization.

I know that can be frustrating.

I know people are hurting.

I know there are families who need help.

And I wish we could help everyone.

I REALLY DO.

But we can't be everything to everybody.

What we CAN do is be Angels Over Cliffs.

We CAN come alongside our hidden homeless friends in Corona and Norco.

We CAN walk with families through crisis.

We CAN provide resources, relief and renewal.

We CAN help people get connected to the resources they need.

We CAN help people get housed.

We CAN help people learn how to stay housed.

And we CAN walk alongside people who are willing to do the hard work of changing the trajectory of their lives.

So if you reach out to us and we aren't able to help, please don't hear:

“We don't care.”

Hear:

“We aren't the right resource for this particular need.”

We are a SMALL nonprofit.

The need is HUGE.

The wait lists are real.

Our capacity is limited.

And it takes time to get into our program.

But when you do get into Angels Over Cliffs, we are going to LOVE YOU.

We're going to walk with you.

We're going to encourage you.

We're going to challenge you.

We're going to celebrate your victories.

We're going to have hard conversations when they're needed.

And we're going to keep pointing you toward the next step.

Because we believe people can change.

We believe circumstances can change.

We believe lives can change.

And most importantly, we believe God can change EVERYTHING. 🙏

We aren't here to judge you.

We aren't here to shame you.

We're here to love you back to life and help you find your way home.

Last night was SO MUCH FUN at our Life Skills Class at Peppermint Ridge! ❤️

First, a HUGE thank you to our amazing community partner, Peppermint Ridge, for allowing Angels Over Cliffs to use their beautiful facility for our twice-monthly Life Skills Classes. We are so grateful for you!

And then there was AMY! 🥰

Amy is a Girl Scout who is working toward earning her Gold Award. She decided to use the money she earned selling Girl Scout cookies this year to purchase brand-new crock pots and groceries for the families in our program who are experiencing homelessness.

But she didn’t stop there.

Amy realized something so important. When families go to food pantries, they often receive miscellaneous ingredients, but rarely do they have everything they need to make an entire meal.

So Amy created MEAL KITS! 🙌🏼

Each HUGE bag has everything needed to make an entire meal, along with a recipe. And the meals are simple enough for the kids to put together in their new crock pots while their parents are at work. HOW AMAZING IS THAT?!

Last night, Amy brought the crock pots, the meal kits, groceries AND everything we needed to make homemade pasta noodles. 🍝

And let me tell you… the kids had THE BEST TIME!

Hands covered in flour. Eggs everywhere. Dough being kneaded. Big smiles. Squeals of laughter. And so much joy!

Danny, if you saw the live video… don’t worry. 😂 We cleaned up VERY well!

Watching these kids learn that they can actually make a meal from scratch was priceless. This wasn’t just a cooking class. It was confidence, life skills, independence and FUN all rolled into one evening.

A GREAT BIG HUGE THANK YOU to Amy and her amazing mom! They drove all the way from Murrieta to be with us last night, and we are SO grateful!

And guess what?! Amy is coming back next month for a DESSERT COOKING CLASS! 🍪🧁

Please help us give Amy a HUGE shout-out for using her time, talent and Girl Scout cookie money to bless families in our community. ❤️

THIS is what community looks like. This is what loving people looks like.

⚾️❤️ A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO THE ANAHEIM ANGELS! ❤️⚾️

Oh my goodness, what a night!!! 😍⚾️

Last night, the Anaheim Angels blessed Angels Over Cliffs with 20 tickets to the game, and we were SO excited to be able to share them with some of our incredible donors, volunteers, and one of our AOC families!

There is just something so special about being able to give people an opportunity to get out, have some fun, laugh, eat some good food, watch some baseball and just enjoy a night together. ❤️

And let me tell you… our AOC family had the BEST time!!! 🥰 Seeing them get to experience something like this is exactly why we do what we do.

Anaheim Angels, THANK YOU! Thank you for supporting Angels Over Cliffs and for helping us bless the people we serve. Your generosity means so much to us, and we are incredibly grateful that you chose to partner with us and our community.

Sometimes a ticket to a baseball game is so much more than just a ticket. It’s an experience. It’s a memory. It’s a night where people get to forget about the hard stuff for a little while and just HAVE FUN! ❤️

Okay, y’all… I need your help with something really special. ❤️

A couple of years ago, a beautiful single mom and her two high-school-aged children came into our Angels Over Cliffs program while experiencing homelessness.

They were living in a motel and, like so many families we meet, they were in SURVIVAL MODE.
But let me tell you something about these kids…

THEY DID NOT LET THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES DEFINE THEM.

Even while their family was navigating homelessness, uncertainty, and all the stress that comes with it, these two kids kept their grades UP.
And not just “getting by” grades. We’re talking HIGH GPAs. 🙌

And now… Ashley graduated from Santiago High School and applied to 23 COLLEGES.

Yep. You read that right.

And she was ACCEPTED TO ALL 23!!! 🤯❤️

I’m still blown away.

Ashley is one of the kindest, sweetest, most genuine souls I have ever met. She has this beautiful heart, she works hard, she loves people, AND she’s in a rock band and absolutely ROCKS OUT. 🎸🤘

She is seriously one of my favorite people ever.

And here’s another thing that makes me so proud of this family…

Mom works her BUTT off to keep a roof over their heads. Since they became housed, they have never come to us asking for rental assistance. They have worked hard, figured things out, and have been able to SURVIVE, THRIVE, and FLOURISH on their own.

And now Ashley is getting ready to take the next BIG step.

COLLEGE.

She leaves on September 19th just a few days from now. 😭❤️
She does not have a full-ride scholarship, and there are some immediate expenses that this family simply doesn't have the extra money to cover.

We need to raise:
🎓 $390 - Orientation costs
🎓 $250 - Enrollment fee
That’s $640 standing between Ashley and this next step.

I am praying that someone will see this and say, “I’ve got it.”

Maybe you’re that person who can sponsor the entire $640.

Maybe you can give $100.
Maybe $50.
Maybe $10.
Maybe even $1.

It ALL adds up.

And I promise you, this isn't just helping pay a college fee.

You are helping a young woman who has already overcome so much continue moving toward the future she has worked so hard for.

Ashley has BIG plans for her life, and I cannot wait to watch this young lady accomplish every single one of them.

This family didn't just receive help from Angels Over Cliffs.
They came back and now VOLUNTEER to help OUR organization.

That means the world to me.
They went from receiving help during one of the hardest seasons of their lives to turning around and helping someone else.

THAT is what community looks like. ❤️

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001.

We remember the innocent lives that were lost.

We remember the families whose lives were forever changed.

We remember the brave First Responders who ran toward danger to help others.

We remember the countless acts of courage, compassion, sacrifice, and love that followed.

Today is not only about remembering what happened.
It is about remembering the people.

The mothers and fathers.
The sons and daughters.
The brothers and sisters.
The friends, neighbors, coworkers, and strangers who never made it home.

And we honor every First Responder who answered the call.

We remember.

We honor.

We are forever grateful.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the spirit of compassion that brought people together.

❤️ A Story Riverside Has Been Following, And Now Corona, It’s Our Turn to Show Up

For the last couple of weeks, an influencer in Riverside has been sharing the heartbreaking story of Mark (66) and Kathy (68), a couple who spent 15 years in the same home until their landlord sold the property and gave them three weeks to leave.

They walked out of the only home they knew…

And left everything behind.

They used every dollar of their savings to stay in a motel.

When the money ran out, they began living in their truck.

For months.
In the heat.
In pain.
In survival mode.

And then came the unimaginable: Kathy went in for a routine surgery for a tooth infection.
She woke up partially paralyzed.
Since then, she has been fighting through mistreatment at a nursing facility, confusion around her insurance, and the trauma of losing her mobility, her home, and both of her daughters, one to cancer two years ago, and one just two years before that.

Yesterday, Kathy reached her breaking point.

She got up… and walked out of the nursing home.

Today, she is here in Corona with her husband, finally safe in a motel room and Angels Over Cliffs has wrapped case managers, resources, and love around them.

But they need our community to step in with the basics so they can stabilize and breathe.

Their immediate needs:
•Gasoline support so Kathy can get to her medical appointments
•Groceries for their full‑size refrigerator
•Hygiene products
•A crock pot or electric skillet so they can prepare meals

•General donations to keep them sheltered and supported

They do not receive CalFresh because their Social Security income is just slightly above the threshold.

They have no gas in their truck. They have no food in their fridge. They have no cooking supplies.

And they have endured more loss in ten years than most families face in a lifetime.

But today, hope is rising.

We are coordinating with the nursing home social worker, contacting IEHP, and reaching out to Adult Protective Services to secure long‑term support.

And thanks to Andrew, the Riverside influencer who brought attention to their story, we now have a community ready to stand beside them.

❤️ Corona, Riverside, Inland Empire, let’s show Mark & Kathy that they are not forgotten.

Let’s fill their fridge.
Let’s fuel their truck.
Let’s restore their dignity.
Let’s remind them that community still exists.

Before Angels Over Cliffs, my family and I spent nearly four years homeless. We lived in hotels, on couches, in a friend's car, and anywhere we could find a safe place to sleep.

During that time, I was working, doing everything I knew how to do, and fighting every single day to keep my children together and moving forward. My kids were doing homework, school projects, dances, proms, and even graduations out of hotel rooms. One of my greatest prayers was that I would not have a second child graduate while we were still living in a hotel.

The struggle became even harder when the father of my children left, and suddenly I was carrying everything on my own. I was trying to be both parents, keep food on the table, keep my children emotionally afloat, and somehow find a way out of homelessness at the same time. We reached out to organizations that were supposed to help, but too often we were met with prejudice, assumptions, endless waiting lists, broken promises, or programs that left us feeling forgotten. After so many disappointments, I truly began to lose hope. I started to believe that maybe this was just going to be our life.

Then Angels Over Cliffs came alongside us.

What Angels Over Cliffs gave my family was so much more than assistance. They gave us love, life, hope, and dignity. They reminded us that we mattered. Through Bible studies, holiday events, birthday pop-ups, Christmas giveaways, Easter celebrations, Mother's Day events, and countless acts of kindness, they restored joy to my children. For the first time in a long time, my kids had something to look forward to. Every week they were excited about the next Bible study, the next event, the next opportunity to be surrounded by people who genuinely cared about them.

Angels Over Cliffs also strengthened my faith during one of the darkest seasons of my life. When I felt broken, defeated, and exhausted, they reminded me that God had not forgotten us. They stood beside me, encouraged me, prayed with me, and helped me keep going when I wasn't sure how much strength I had left.

Today, my family is housed.
My children have beds.
We have a home.
We have stability.
Most importantly, we have hope again.

I am now a lead case manager for Angels Over Cliffs and helping to love people right where they're at. My lived experience helps me to love people even better.

Sometimes I sit in my apartment and look around and wonder how we made it through everything we survived. The answer is simple: God carried us, and Angels Over Cliffs was one of the ways He did it.

Angels Over Cliffs didn't just help us survive homelessness.
They helped us believe in life again.
For that, I will be forever grateful.

Because of YOU, Lives Are Changing Every single day, our community reminds us what it looks like when people choose compassion over comfort, action over apathy, and hope over fear. In just the last two months, Angels Over Cliffs has been able to wrap around multiple families in crisis, and it’s only possible because you continue to stand with us.

Here’s what your support made happen:
Family of Seven, pregnant with twins, is now safely navigating their housing plan with us. They are stable, supported, and no longer facing this journey alone.

26‑year‑old who aged out of foster care and was living in his car during the summer heat is now sheltered, connected, and moving forward.

Family of Five was officially approved for housing, a huge milestone and a brand‑new chapter.

Single female was exited off the streets and placed into a safe room rental.

Another 36‑year‑old woman experiencing homelessness for three days was connected to a room rental almost immediately. God’s fingerprints were all over that moment.

A young couple who suddenly lost their housing is now safe in a motel room while we help them rebuild stability.

This is what community looks like.
This is what you make possible.
This is why we keep going.

September is C‑PTSD Awareness Month.

I live with Complex PTSD, not because of one event, but because of years of Big‑T trauma that shaped my nervous system long before I understood what trauma even was.

I come from a deeply dysfunctional family system.
I grew up around domestic violence, alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and needles at an age when I should’ve been learning safety. I’ve survived homelessness. I’ve survived addiction. I’ve survived being beaten and left for dead in the woods. I’ve seen what murder does to a family. I've seen what su***de does to a family.

My story has chapters most people never talk about out loud.
But I’m not sharing this to dwell in it.
I’m sharing it because healing is possible.
When someone finally surrenders the pain…
When they get the right tools…
When they find the right therapist…
When they stop surviving and start healing…

The body, mind, and spirit can change.

C‑PTSD affects how my brain and nervous system respond to the world.

It means I can be fully capable, leading teams, facilitating rooms, laughing, traveling, planning, loving my life and still have days where getting out of bed feels impossible.

Days where I withdraw, become quiet, forgetful, or slow to respond.

Days where I don’t have the words to explain what’s happening because my nervous system is doing the talking.

From the outside, it can look like distance, disinterest, or inconsistency.

Inside, it’s often exhaustion, emotional regulation, or a trigger that doesn’t make sense to anyone else.

But here’s the truth:
I am still me on the days I’m thriving.
And I am still me on the days I’m struggling.

C‑PTSD is part of my story, but it is not the whole story.

God has given me beauty for ashes.

Because of everything I’ve lived through, I’m able to love people exactly where they are.

I understand things others don’t.

I can sit with people in their pain without flinching.

My trauma didn’t take me out, it equipped me to help others heal.

If you’re quietly struggling, you’re not alone.

If you love someone with C‑PTSD, patience, consistency, and compassion matter more than you know.

If this helps even one person feel seen, understood, or less ashamed, then sharing it is worth it.
