🕊️ 💙 As Nurses Week 2026 comes to a close, the New Hampshire Nurse Honor Guard and Green Mountain Nurses Honor Guard were honored to collaborate with
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) to share the mission of the Nurses Honor Guard…honoring the lifelong SERVICE, DEDICATION, and COMPASSION of nurses.

We are deeply grateful to DHMC Community for the warm welcome, hospitality, and enthusiasm for our volunteer work as we pay tribute to the nurses who have done this important work before us. 💙 🕊️

🤍 🕊️It was an HONOR to pay tribute to EVA BOGUE (see obituary in comments) at her graveside service in Underhill, VT. Eva was a PROUD registered nurse whose life was dedicated to caring for others. A 1952 graduate of the Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing, she worked part-time at the UVM infirmary while raising her family, and later devoted many years full-time to the Burlington Convalescent Center until her retirement.

At 95 years old, Eva leaves behind a legacy of COMPASSION, SERVICE, and DEDICATION to her community and family.
The LIFE SHE LIVED will be remembered with great RESPECT and GRATITUDE. 🕊️🤍

Let the life I’ve lived speak for me.
Let the life I’ve lived
speak for me.
When I come to the end of this road,
And I lay down my heavy load,
Let the life I’ve lived speak for me.

Let the friends I’ve made speak for me.

Let the work I’ve done speak for me.

Let the love I’ve shared speak for me.

A warm THANK YOU to today’s nurse volunteers, Jamie, Anne Marie, Marcie & Bernie, from the Honor Guard for serving today.

💙 Today, Rutland Regional Medical Center kicked off Nurses Week, and the
Green Mountain Nurses Honor Guard was honored to be part of this special celebration recognizing nurses and their dedication.

NURSES WEEK is observed each year from MAY 6 through MAY 12, beginning with National Nurses Day and concluding on Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This meaningful week highlights the COMPASSION, COMMITMENT, and SACRIFICES nurses make every day in caring for others.

We are proud to stand alongside and honor all nurses for their service, professionalism, and unwavering support of patients, families, and communities. 💙

🤍 Green Mountain Nurses Honor Guard members Ann Marie, Liza, and Regina had the honor of paying tribute to Rebecca “Becky” Sleeman at her wake on Friday, February 6th, 2026 at Ready Funeral Home.

Becky attended the Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1956. She devoted 51 years to the nursing profession, caring deeply for her patients, forging lifelong friendships, and serving as a MENTOR to many nurse colleagues. Known for her positive outlook & unconditional love, Becky embodied the very BEST of nursing.

An avid PATRIOTS fan, we hope Becky has the very BEST seat from above tomorrow as she cheers on her team in Super Bowl LX. 🤍

an old, retired nurse should be treated with **respect and dignity for the rest of their life**.

A nurse didn’t just do a job—
they witnessed pain,
worked long nights,
and often put others’ lives before their own family.

After retirement, they deserve:

* **Respect** for their years of service and experience
* **Care** for their physical and emotional well-being
* **Security** through financial and social support
* **Dignity** in being heard and valued

It is society’s responsibility to show **gratitude, not neglect**, to those who stood beside us in our most vulnerable moments.

Honoring a retired nurse means
**honoring the entire healthcare system.**

To say I am so proud of and grateful for what Green Mountain Nurses Honor Guard has become is an understatement. I was truly blessed with some amazing nurses who jumped on board in the early stages and played a huge roll in making us what we are today. We continue to be blessed with nurses joining who love their nursing career as much as I do.
You all have a heart of gold 💛

💚 🕊️ A beautiful morning at the Irish Pastoral Centre: “Anseo Le Chéile” - “Here Together” with Rev. Daniel Finn, where Nurse Honor Guards from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont gathered to remember Ann O’ Flaherty and regional nurses who passed away in 2025.

The service: Remembering Our Angels: Third Annual "Nurses in Loving Memoriam" was deeply meaningful, with a Blessing of the Hands for nurses in attendance, music by Irish singer Mairin Uí Cheide Kead & a room filled with WARMTH, GRATITUDE, and LOVE.

A heartfelt THANK YOU Massachusetts Nurses Honor Guard "Ann O's Watch"
for organizing this special tribute and for bringing together nurses from across New England to honor our beloved fallen colleagues. 💚 🕊️

Seeing this moment reflected with such care reminds us why this calling and the act of honoring one another…matters so much!

Thank you UVM Health for helping share our mission with the community and for celebrating the legacy of Vermont’s nurses with us.

We are deeply thankful to Green Mountain Nurses Honor Guard volunteer
members Heather, Jeri, Ann Marie & Susan, who were present to honor the beautiful life and service of Nurse Ruth Sweeney.

Ruth lived her 95 years with unwavering FAITH, COMPASSION, and GRACE. As a nurse, she gave selflessly to others and touched countless lives with her warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength. She was deeply LOVED by her large extended family, and she ADORED them in return.

“So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown."

Rest well, Ruth. Your legacy of care and love lives on in all who knew you.
