Faulkner County Weather Watchers

Faulkner County Weather Watchers Weather education and photography local to Faulkner County, Arkansas. Faulkner Co. I am not a meteorologist.

Weather Watchers will always concentrate on educating the general population about weather and weather safety. We will post relevant articles on the weather and weather safety, SPC Outlooks, and any other information from relevant sources like NWS Little Rock, Arkansas Skywarn, and more. I will also share my local photography so we can appreciate the beauty of Faulkner County.

**We DO NOT post wa

rnings to our page because of the untimelly way that Facebook may/may not decide to show you our posts. Please find reputable sources such as a NOAA weather radio, local news, and more for these types of warnings. I am storm spotter trained, and will never pretend to be anything more than that. I simply want to help my community gather an education and appreciation for the weather.**

Happy Meteorological Spring!!! 🌞 Astronomically speaking, Spring doesn't happen until the Spring Equinox but here in Arkansas March is usually the prime time for severe weather. Dixie Alley in recent years has been the most active in March and April while our neighbors in the plains like Oklahoma see more activity in May and June.

I've been considering posting more on this page. If you would, let me know what you'd like to see from us in the comments below.

The only thing we adamantly won't do is post weather warnings as they occur due to the algorithm not showing people at the time it's posted. We'll leave this important job to the professionals.

It might be Easter Sunday... But there's a risk for severe weather. Whether you celebrate and are traveling or staying at home... Be sure that you keep an eye on the weather. Have a plan for alternative locations and a way to receive warnings from a professional and reputable source. We hope you enjoy your Sunday celebrations and stay safe neighbors.

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a region with potential for strong+ tornadoes this afternoon and evening across central/southern Missouri into northern Arkansas.

An arc of supercells in a strongly sheared environment is forecast to mature across eastern Oklahoma by early afternoon and blast east into Missouri and Arkansas with tornado potential.

Stay tuned to severe weather watches and warnings in this beautiful part of the U.S.

For April 4th, 2025... We've had many close calls the last few days but don't let the lack of storm damage in our area settle you into a sense of complacency. Today it is so important to stay just as aware and just as prepared. Don't get yourself caught in the thought of, "It didn't happen last time." That's how people get hurt. Stay safe neighbors.

As a reminder, we do not post warnings. Due to the unreliable algorithm, we leave everything up to the weather professionals. Not just the ones playing them on Facebook. Please stay tuned to professional weather service and meteorologists as well as your NOAA weather radio.

TORNADO OUTBREAK EXPECTED TODAY NORTHEAST TEXAS, ARKANSAS TO SE MISSOURI

Forecast models are trending up with the instability/wind shear overlap across much of Arkansas. Supercells are forecast to erupt as early as 2 pm and push northeast at 45 mph. This threat area includes Little Rock! A dangerous severe weather day is ahead for this target area.

Please stay tuned to severe weather watches and warnings

For Saturday, March 29th. It's that time of year folks. Be sure to think TODAY about your severe weather safety plan and be prepared AHEAD OF TIME for the potential of severe weather tomorrow.

SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK INCLUDING TORNADOES IN DIXIE ALLEY SUNDAY

A massive warm sector is forecast to develop Sunday that stretches from Texas to southern Lower Michigan with a low-level jet beneath WSW winds aloft. The more westerly storm motions will carve into the low level jet at a higher angle, increasing tornado potential overall.

Right now the area of greatest concern includes Little Rock to Memphis areas, but tornadoes will likely be possible across the entire expansive warm sector.

This event follows the Saturday PM severe weather expected farther west.

It's that time of year neighbors. You might think it's a little early for bad weather but, it can really happen any time if year. The predictions are already pouring in and it could be an active year.

Take time now to go over your plan in your mind. Remind your children what to do. I always throw in a reminder to stay calm and listen to the adults helping them. Make a plan for your pets. For at work.

A plan ahead type of plan is the plan that very well could save your life should the worst occur.

I must also give you my seasonal warning that this page leaves the warnings to the ACTUAL professionals, not just the ones who play them on Facebook. Please have reliable and professional resources to get timely warnings such as a NOAA Weather Radio, news outlets, and your weather app.

We'll be sharing resources all season long so stay tuned. It's looking to be a great storm season ahead. We're just 3 Days until Meteorological Spring! 🌪️

UPDATE: Classic tornado outbreak setup for this Pacific climate system (La Nina / warm NPO / cold PDO horse shoe) looks very possible on Tuesday March 4. We will see a lot of these potent dry lines, synoptically driven to surge well east of I-35. High-amplitude troughs will open up a large, strongly sheared warm sector. The dry air protecting the Southeast U.S. will likely gradually erode through Mid March with these coast-to-coast troughs. Now is the time to dial in and rehearse your family severe weather safety plans - storm season is here!

This is your secondary storm season reminder to have a reliable and professional sources to receive up to date watches and warnings. Please do not rely on social media accounts pretending to be professionals. This page does not post about watches or warnings. We leave that to the actual professionals. Have more than one source such as news, radio, or a NOAA weather radio. Have a plan ahead of time and be safe.
