Hello Parents and Skaters from your Skating Director, Jeni Wilder!

We are excited to start Session 4, which includes our Spring Exhibition show rehearsal! I wanted to provide a few reminders for a successful start!
For Beginner skaters of all ages:
#1) Helmets are REQUIRED. A bicycle or ski helmet is good to use.
Helmets are highly encouraged for skaters who have passed Basic 3 or Adult 3. The ISI equivalent of these levels is Pre-Alpha through Alpha 1. Skater must have passed Alpha 1 with the ability to glide on one foot backward for 8 counts, on each foot.
#2) Gloves, gloves, gloves! If a skater is learning for the very first time, outdoor snow gloves are highly recommended vs cloth gloves, which can become wet.
#3) Warm, comfortable clothing. Clothing should be warm, but not bulky, to allow the ability to move on the ice without restriction.
#4) Arrive at least 20 minutes early, especially if you need to rent skates and try on a couple sizes for the best fit. Skates are available to rent from rink staff for $5.00. Beginners take the ice at 4:35pm.
#5) Parents may es**rt their skater to the ice, but need return to the lobby to watch the lessons. Several parents communicating to their children during the lesson, while they need to listen to their coaching instructor, can be distracting for their skater and other skaters on the ice.

Session Times – Arrive 20 minutes before your session to put on skates:

4:35pm until 5:25pm Beginners (Basic 1 through Basic 6) and Hockey (all levels)
5:25pm until 5:45pm Spring Exhibition Show Rehearsal Segment
5:45pm until 6:35pm Free Skate Levels (Pre-Free Skate through Free Skate 6) and Adults (all levels)

Each 50 minute Learn To Skate lesson includes a 25 minute group lesson with 25 minutes of practice ice. Practice ice will be located on the section of the ice that is closest to the lobby viewing area.

Thursday Practice Ice Times: Practice ice is held every Thursday from 5pm to 6pm.

Session 4 dates:

• Sunday Learn To Skate & Holiday show segment: 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29
• Thursday Practice Ice: 2/26, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26, 4/2.
• Spring Show Dress Rehearsal: Thursday 3/26 from 5-6pm
• Spring Exhibition: 3/29 following the first hour of Learn to Skate lessons at 5:30. Skaters not part of the Spring Exhibition Ensemble are invited to show off their favorite skating skills to family and friends before the Spring Exhibition starts. Light music will play in the background and no choreography is necessary! Stay and watch our skaters show off their favorite moves and then watch the show!

Please view this video for information on the Learn To Skate Program, and how to have a successful learning experience!

Sunday Feb 22nd is the first day of Session 4. Please register at mwvsc.org before noontime on the 22nd. See you at the Ham!

02/19/2026

Reminder there's no practice ice tonight because it's school vacation. Enjoy the beautiful weather!

02/15/2026

Sunday 2/15/26 is the last day of session 3! We invite everyone to stay just 15 minutes longer past the completion of the first hour of lessons, or, come early if you skate in the 2nd hour, to see the performances of our 2 Theater On Ice Groups! Performances will begin at 5:30 after a short warm up. Remember to pick up your goodie bag at the end of class! Sign up for session 4 which begins Sunday 2/22/26 at mwvsc.org!
One aspect of theater on ice is the “choreographic exercise”. Our first group will be doing a choreographic process of “joy” exhibiting fast movement. Our second group will be doing a choreographic process of “canon” or cascading sequences, with soft movement (fluid and light). Come see them perform at 5:30!

Performers: wear all black along with your team jackets!
See you at the rink!

Congratulations to Aubrey Bernier for winning the calendar sales prize drawing! I will find you Sunday and we will select the color of the towel/soaker/skate guard prize.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the fundraiser!
