Psa 139 Revisited: You are not Invisible
O LORD my Papa, You have searched, analyzed and scrutinize me intently and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You know every move I make, You understand my every thought from afar.
(You notice me. I’m not invisible.)
You scrutinize and examine my path the way I’m heading, and my lying down my rest and my slumber, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways. You know me inside and out.
(You notice me. I’m not invisible.)
Even before there is a word on my tongue, before I have even thought of the word Behold, O LORD, You know it all, You know it all.
You have enclosed me behind and before, You are on every side of me, You are all around me, And laid Your hand upon me, Your protecting and comforting hand.
(You notice me. I’m not invisible.)
Such knowledge, such understanding is too wonderful, too amazing for me; It is too high, too superior, I cannot attain, I cannot reach it.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? Where can I run to? Where can I take flight?
(You notice me. I’m not invisible.)
If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol the place of the dead, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn, If I could fly with all swiftness with the power of the newness of the Star of the morning. If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, If I find a place to live in an undiscovered part of the sea.
Even there Your hand will lead me, You're comforting and all powerful hand will move me. And Your right hand will lay hold of me and guide me.
(You notice me. I am not invisible.)
If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me and consume me and hide me from Your sight, And the light, the brightness around me will be night, the darkest night and completely"
Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You. You see all and all.
(You notice me. I am not invisible.)
For You formed and molded my most inward parts; You wove me, knitted me with meticulous precision in my mother's womb.
(You notice me. I am not invisible.)
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.
(You notice me. I am not invisible.)
Your thoughts about me are so tenderly precious that You call me Segullah, O God! My Papa. Your tender thoughts, they cannot be numbered! You have so many of them, there is no possible that they can be numbered.
If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand of all the shores of the world. When I awake, I am still with You. You never leave me.
O that You would slay the wicked and evil doers, O God; Depart from me, therefore, men of bloodshed.
For they speak against You wickedly, And Your enemies take Your name in vain.
Do I not hate those who hate You, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
I hate them with the utmost hatred; They have become my enemies.
Search me, O God, and know my eager heart; Try me and test me and know my anxious thoughts;
And see if there be any hurtful and grudging way in me, And lead me in the everlasting and eternal way.
(You notice me. I am not invisible.)
(OutCast Version)
Does God really know us?
He has searched us, and knows us.
(The Hebrew word for “Search” is khaw-kar', and means, to examine.)
He knows our very thoughts.
(God knows every good thought, and every bad thought we have.)
He is familiar with all our ways.
(The Hebrew word for “familiar” is saw-kan', and means, to know intimately.)
He knows the words we speak, before we speak them.
(Before one word comes from my mouth, He has already heard it.)
We cannot hide from God’s Presence.
(God is everywhere.)
Darkness is as light to Him.
(God sees in the darkness, like we see in the day-light.)
God created our most inward parts.
He knitted us in our mothers womb.
(The HRB reads verse 13 as,
Psa 139:13 For You have possessed my inward parts; You wove me in the womb of my mother.
The Hebrew word for, “possessed” is kaw-naw', and means, to create, to redeem.
With His hand he made us while we were still in our mothers womb)
We are fearfully and wonderfully made.
(He has made complex. He has made distinct, one of a kind. He has made us extraordinary.)
He saw us as we were being formed.
(Because He is the one who made us.)
God leads us in the way of everlasting.
(Jesus said, He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, John 14:6.
Then He said, The one who believes in Him will have everlasting life John 6:47.)
