Dan Von Dohlen here. A simple weather hack to keep your steps clear. I recently replaced my car mats with WeatherTech floor mats in my new car and used those mats to replace these old mats. But I found a use for them. This works with cardboard as well. It looks like we have more bad weather in the forecast. Please everyone be safe and if you have to go out allow extra time and distance as you drive.

How many accidents and close calls will it take to get the city to make a change?
If you drive through downtown Conover you have definitely witnessed this happen. A truck is coming from the direction from 40 and wants to turn on 1st Ave South to Newton at the Conover gas station.

This turn is simply too tight to manage a proper turn without backing traffic up at least 50 feet. Meaning if a car is in the turn lane at the light and traffic is behind them it isn't possible for the truck to make this turn. I witnessed this today, the truck blocked flowing traffic until it realized the car couldn't back up. Not only is this a nuisance it is a traffic hazard and a cost to tax payers when the pole at that corner gets taken out by a truck! ( this has happened more than once.) Drive by today and you can see the damage.

This is an easy fix. The city could call DOT and request a change. 1st option either change the turning lane stopping point to 50 feet back. The best and most obvious option is to put a no trucks turn right sign at that corner.
Why is this simple change so hard for our city management? Is it that the city council simply doesn't care?

From Kevin

I want to say thank you to all our friends and neighbors who helped us with this campaign. A special thanks goes to Dan Von Dohlen and Ralph Hatch. I learned a lot from these to great men. Wonderful guys who walked with me through countless neighborhoods who I now count as great friends. We met so many great citizens in Conover. It was quite an experience and I have learned a lot from it and want to continue to learn more and to listen to all the citizens of city of Conover. I also want to thank my friend Kevin Boggs for all of his help. You couldn't ask for a better guy. He is like the Bible says in Proverbs 18...a man who sticks closer than a brother. Thank you also to Mark Minton and Mike Davis for all his help and also to Keith Connor . Until next time.....

The numbers are in and unfortunately we didn't pull it off this time. Our heads are held high knowing we worked hard for your vote. And during this time the City quickly addressed some of the issues we have been asking for years to be done. We are not finished yet this is not the end of the fight for a better Conover.

Good morning everyone.
I’m sitting outside Conover Station this morning waiting to see you come out and vote! Please take the time to do your civic duty—no matter which way you vote. If you’re still undecided and have questions, I’m here and happy to talk. Hope to see you out here today.

No matter the outcome, I know that God has a plan for me.

Good Saturday morning everyone!
Today is November 1st — the last day of early voting! If you see the person in the photos on your front porch, don’t be alarmed — that’s just me out talking with our citizens before the election. I appreciate every chance to listen and connect with our community. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!

Good Friday morning, everyone!
There are only two days left for early voting, so make sure you get out and make your voice heard.

If you’re ready for a change in Conover, voting for Ralph Hatch, Kevin Dill, and Dan Von Dohlen is a smart choice for progress.

If you can’t make it out today or Saturday, Election Day is Tuesday, November 4th — the big day to make a difference.

Remember, we stand for Progress With Purpose!
