Naor here, hunkering down in Jerusalem, hoping for peace and safety for everyone. The reality is that those seeking peace and justice here don’t have many political outlets, certainly not the Israeli government (or frankly any realistic alternatives to the Netanyahu coalition), Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Islamic Republic in Iran.

I’m supposed to be here til May learning and working on peace activism. Some of that is on hold now-for example, I’m hoping to help with a project to bring bikes to Palestinian kids in the West Bank.

Still working on documenting my first few weeks here, but some pictures to share. The day before the war started, I biked to the West Bank (just a few miles from Jerusalem) and met influencer/Russian Israeli activist Andrey X, who lives pretty much full time doing protective presence to provide support for Palestinians who are faced with terrorism by Israeli settlers, often with either explicit or tacit support from the army.

I also got the opportunity to go to two of the main sites of No Other Land and meet the community in Umm al-Khair, one of several villages in the Masafer Yatta region. I will share more about my experience so far (hopefully not the last time I go there), but for now, here are some photos.

Just wanted to let you know that Naor, who biked most of the way across the country with me last summer is now in Israel on a peace fellowship during a very dangerous time. He previously biked to the West Bank. and is staying in Jerusalem not too far or several people were killed. Hopefully he’ll post about some of his experiences here. Safe travels Naor!

Join a memorial ride in honor of Alex Pretti and all who have been harmed by ICE this Saturday. Following from the lead of his local bike community in Minneapolis, Naor will be attending the one in Oakland.
