To know me is to know my love of history! Check out my blog post on how New Hampshire schools can get involved in celebrating America’s 250th birthday and bring meaningful, engaging activities to life within their schools.

2026 New Hampshire Teacher of the Year and Andover EA member Megan Philbrook is sharing resources for educators to use in the classroom as we mark the Semiquincentennial, America’s 250th birthday.

At both Rundlett Middle School and Concord High School, Katie McDonough proves that Latin is definitely not a ‘dead’ language! Today, her classroom was filled with excitement, energy, and joy for learning. Katie leads curriculum work to expand meaningful language opportunities and strengthen learning across grade levels and school buildings. Congratulations on being named a Finalist for New Hampshire Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations to Christa Powers on being named a Finalist for New Hampshire Teacher of the Year. At Pinkerton Academy, Christa is a strong advocate for co-teaching models. She is working to make math integration accessible to all learners while aligning instruction with industry standards in the trades. Visiting her today was such a delight!

Thank you to the New Hampshire Secretary of State for honoring 50 students with 50 stars for using their civic knowledge to give back to their communities. I may be a little partial to the star labeled Andover, but every student amazed with the meaningful ways they turned civics into action. Huge gratitude to Secretary of State David Scanlan and New Hampshire Civic & Voter Education Coordinator Lily Woo for hosting such a wonderful evening filled with 50 bright, shining examples of Granite State scholarship and citizenship.

Mr. Philbrook (Philbrook Metal Fabrication) taught today instead of me! SHARE Day at my school allows our students to try out new activities outside of our regular curriculum. Activities offered include athletics, crafts, trades, and so much more. Today’s welding lesson really sparked some interest, and you could say our students were forging new skills and connections (puns intended)!

I love enriching and engaging FREE resources for my classroom! If you didn't know, Skype A Scientist offers regular webinars and personalised Zoom sessions with your classroom. My Social Studies classes always tune into the history and geography connected presentations, and today we learned from a 60-person manned research vessel in the Atlantic Ocean.

A marine biologist and geologist showed us underwater research vehicles, ocean-floor mapping, and how scientists use deep-sea data in real time. Past sessions have explored Mayan burial sites, archaeology, and even medieval eel history.

Such an amazing FREE cross-curricular resource for NH schools. The 2026-2027 topics will launch this summer.
