Exciting Announcement from Carolina Reef Foundation! 🇺🇸🪸
We are thrilled to announce the Patriots Reef Project — a living underwater memorial dedicated to honoring the bravery, selflessness, and sacrifice of everyday Americans: our citizens, first responders, service members, and maritime heroes.
Not all memorials stand on land. Some will live, grow, and give back to the ocean for generations to come. This project combines coral rescue, reef restoration, and community stewardship to create a lasting legacy of resilience and renewal along the Carolina coast.

This year, Carolina Reef Foundation didn’t just grow participation: we built Coral Rescue Divers™.

Volunteer involvement increased significantly, bringing together divers who want more than just time in the water: they want purpose.

Through hands-on dives, real-world rescue missions, and reef stewardship, we are developing passionate Coral Rescue Divers™ trained to identify, recover, stabilize, and protect vulnerable coral.

This is about equipping people to care for God’s creation with skill, responsibility, and heart.

The reef needs guardians, and this year, they answered the call.

This year, Coral Rescue Divers™ were put to the test.

Carolina Reef Foundation completed its first coral nursery site, installing 25 coral strands to stabilize rescued coral and prepare it for future out-planting.

Our Coral Rescue Divers™ conducted numerous rescue dives, including emergency response dives after an anchor became stuck on the artificial reef near the nursery, damaging living coral.

Through these efforts, we rescued hundreds of years of broken coral, securing it in our nursery where it can recover, grow, and one day return to the reef.

This is conservation that responds when it matters most.
