Tomorrow at 1:30 PM, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) will meet to make decisions on electricity pricing, including proposals that could raise rates for Ohio customers.

PUCO regulates electricity and gas utilities across the state, meaning its decisions directly impact monthly bills. In recent years, some commissioners have faced public scrutiny over rate approvals, relationships with utility companies, and how costs are passed on to consumers.

This post breaks down who the commissioners are and the key concerns that have been raised about their roles.

Know who controls your utility bills!

This rate increase is different than the one we have organized around for Lights Out on AEP. But this latest price hike is further reason why PUCO cannot approve yet another increase in that case.

As Morgan Harper told NBC4 we have a core problem when it comes to utilities—the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio is not regulating AEP sufficiently!

As more and more of us are facing huge bills, it’s time for the PUCO to step up and do its job.

AEP Ohio customers are reacting as another price increase is on the way. https://nbc4i.co/3Pmn2n4?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_NBC4

CHECK OUT THIS ARTICLE!

Electricity bills are rising across the U.S. for lots of reasons — aging grid costs, natural gas prices & booming data-center demand — but for everyday people it’s real money.

After a brutal winter, Columbus mom Britney Sawyer was shocked to see her electric bill hit $643.93 — nearly 5× the Ohio average — forcing her to cut spending and take on debt just to keep the lights on.

Columbus deserves real neighborhood representation.

Right now, City Council seats are technically district-based—but candidates still have to win votes citywide, which favors big money and corporate donors over everyday residents.

Our City, Our Say is a grassroots effort to move Columbus to a true district-only voting system—and put it on the November 2026 ballot.
