👀Have you ever sat in the vault? ⚡️ Iron Bank Coffee Co. was originally built as the First National Bank of Columbus, it is recognized as the largest cast-iron building in Georgia, featuring a beautiful, prefabricated facade from Pittsburgh and New York!

Bank of Columbus / First National Bank was in this historic cast-iron building known locally as the “Iron Bank”. It was used by the Bank of Columbus from 1860 to 1866 (with construction paused during the Civil War) and later functioned as the First National Bank of Columbus in the early-to-mid 1900s. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974.

Now, it is a stunning, independent, locally owned specialty coffee shop in Uptown Columbus , Georgia, housed in the historic 1860 Iron Bank Building.

Mellow Mushroom has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember.
My uncle discovered the original back in the 70’s while attending Georgia Tech and told my father, “You have to try this place.” Once he did, we never passed one up… didn’t matter if we’d just eaten. It was always time for another slice.
Fast-forward more than 20 years and life had my father wondering what was next for him. I’d spent most of my working life in restaurants and together we found the perfect partnership. It was time to bring Mellow Mushroom to Columbus, GA.
On October 13, 2001, we opened the doors and shared something we’d loved for so long with this wonderful community!
I never could have imagined the joy this restaurant would bring. From the first pie out of the oven, to the thousands of smiles, stories, regulars and team members who’ve become like family, this place has filled my life with more good vibes than I ever expected!
I’m so grateful for every team member who’s poured their heart into it, every guest who’s walked through the door, this amazing Columbus community that has supported us every step of the way and most importantly, Larry (my father), for taking a chance on something truly loved with me!
Thank you to every single person who’s helped keep Mellow… Mellow for the last 25 years!
