Last month we hosted the 12th Annual JMLBA Gala, which was a roaring success! We were inspired by Keynote Speaker Janice Innis-Thompson, who reminded us that “lifting as you climb” means mentoring, creating opportunities, and building bridges for the next generation. We also honored the Honorable Judge James Green for his decades of dedicated service to Franklin County. Congratulations to our scholarship winners, Chase Moore and Samaree Perkins, whose leadership and commitment make us proud.

Heartfelt thanks to our generous sponsors — this evening wouldn’t have been possible without you. And to all JMLBA members and supporters who attended: your presence proved that when we come together, the heights at which we can rise are limitless!

The 12th Annual JMLBA Gala is less than one month away and we are excited to announce our Legacy Award Recipient and Keynote Speaker. This year, we are paying homage to the legacy of service and celebrate the trailblazing accomplishments of the Honorable Judge James Green, Retired Franklin County Municipal Court Judge. We are also excited to welcome Janice Innis-Thompson, SVP, Lead Attorney, Nationwide Financial, as this year’s distinguished keynote speaker.

Recently, members of the JMLBA Board had the pleasure of attending the annual Soul Food Day hosted by the Black Law Student Association at The Ohio State University. The day was filled with enriching discussions led by Yvette McGee Brown and OSU student Chase Moore, meaningful interactions with students, and delicious cuisine. For many of our Board Members, who once organized this event during their own law school years, returning as legal professionals and witnessing the community's development over time was especially rewarding.
