Chic Awearness began in 2013 when survivor Marci Houff and a committee of talented and generous friends joined to create awareness around ovarian cancer. Chic Awearness has raised almost $650,000 for ovarian cancer research in efforts for early detection. A message from Hope Loftis, Chic Awearness Board Member…

Today is the final day of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, but for me, ovarian cancer awareness will never be limited to one month.

It’s personal.

It’s my mother.

She was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and, at just 54 years old, she lost her battle with this devastating disease.

I would give anything for just one more conversation. One more hug. One more day.

And that’s why I am asking you to help me turn something heartbreaking into something meaningful and helpful.

If sharing my mother’s story can help another woman have more time with the people she loves, then her life and her fight can continue to make a difference.

For more than a decade, the Chic Awearness community has come together to raise awareness and critical funding for ovarian cancer research and patient support at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. Thanks to generous supporters like you, we’ve raised nearly $1.5 million since 2013.

After thoughtful consideration, the Chic Awearness leadership team has decided to pause our annual event in 2026 as we evaluate our impact and prepare for an even stronger return in 2027.

Your support funds life-changing initiatives, including groundbreaking research led by Dr. Cosby Stone to make chemotherapy treatments safer for women with ovarian cancer, as well as the Woman to Woman mentoring program that connects newly diagnosed patients with survivors for guidance and support.
