There is more to this journey than the runway.

For more than 20 years, I have built my life around medicine, leadership, service, mentorship, and helping others believe in what is possible for them. Somewhere along the way, I realized I needed to keep believing in what is possible for me, too!

Modeling has become a beautiful reminder that there is no expiration date on becoming more of who you are. You can build a career, raise a family, serve your community, lead with purpose, and still make room for a dream that surprises you.

And for me, this dream connects back to something even bigger. Every new opportunity gives me another platform to support the work I care deeply about, including Physicians Working Together and our commitment to strengthening the future of medicine. But right now, this part of the journey comes down to one thing:

I must finish FIRST in my group to advance to the Semifinals!

I have been fortunate to hold first place throughout much of this competition, but right now I am in third place, which means I need my village! 🙏🏽💙

Dreams don’t expire, but this round does! 😆

One week later, I’m still reflecting on what it means to be in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the 2026 national medical Association convention and to see so many pieces of my life’s work come together! I grew up in a small town in Mississippi with big dreams and a desire to make a difference.

Becoming a physician was part of that journey, but for me, medicine has always been about people. Today I’m grateful to serve as president and CEO of Physicians Working Together, my own practice, JPL Family Medicine, founder of Dr. Kimberly F. Jackson, and an National Medical Association delegate representing Alabama. Each role allows me to lead serve open doors and help create opportunities for those coming behind me. NMA was especially meaningful this year from the author’s corner and connecting with physician leaders to sharing the work of PWT and reconnecting with medical students we have supported, I was reminded that some of the most powerful impact happens quietly.

It was also special to connect with so many of my Delta Sigma Theta sorors and sisters in medicine. Sisterhood service leadership and excellence were truly in the room through PWT.

As we continue to support future physicians through scholarships, mentorship, advocacy, and community health initiatives, my hope is that the students we support today become not only brilliant doctors, but compassionate physicians, who never lose sight of the people they are called to serve. When I think about the girl from Mississippi, who dreamed of becoming a doctor and the woman I am today, I’m grateful. There’s still more work to do, more people to reach, and more doors to open. That is what it means to inspire and empower plus connect, collaborate and care! Follow Dr. Kimberly F. Jackson as we build a community of professionals, committed to purpose, growth, and becoming the example we want to see in the world.

One of the sweetest moments at NMA was reconnecting with Jasmine Robinson, one of our Physicians Working Together Medical Student Scholarship recipients from 2020.

When we first met Jasmine, she was a medical student working toward her dream. Today, she is thriving in her OB/GYN residency at UCLA. Talk about a full-circle moment!

This is what it’s all about. We may enter a student’s journey at one point, offer support and encouragement, and then years later have the privilege of seeing where that journey has taken them.

Seeing Jasmine doing well was such a sentimental reminder that relationships matter. The scholarship is important, but so is staying connected, cheering them on, and knowing we played even a small role in their story.

Keep thriving, Dr. Robinson. We are incredibly proud of you!
