As Physicians Working Together celebrates 11 years of connection, collaboration, and care, we are proud to announce Darrin Ward as our 11th Medical Student Scholarship recipient.
Darrin is a medical student at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, College of Medicine, where he is part of the school’s inaugural class. His journey reflects leadership, service, research, mentorship, and a deep commitment to community health.
What made Darrin’s application stand out was not only what he is studying, but who he is becoming.
Beyond medicine, Darrin’s unique talent is culinary arts. He began cooking at age 16, inspired by his grandmother. Today, he uses food as a creative outlet and a meaningful way to promote wellness, healthier living, and intentional care.
For Dr. Kimberly F. Jackson, founder of Physicians Working Together, this is exactly why the Medical Student Scholarship Program matters. The future of medicine needs more than academic excellence. It needs whole people, committed leaders, and future physicians who understand culture, lifestyle, community, and humanity.
Through Physicians Working Together, Dr. Jackson continues to build a network of physicians, medical students, mentors, partners, and supporters who believe that strengthening healthcare begins long before a student becomes a doctor. It begins with encouragement, opportunity, visibility, and mentorship.
Congratulations to Darrin Ward, Physicians Working Together’s 11th Medical Student Scholarship recipient.
We are proud to celebrate his journey and honored to continue investing in the future of medicine.
