🎉 Yesterday the community celebrated both the ribbon cutting for Phase 1 of BCSC’s expanded Career & Technical Education offerings and the exciting kickoff of Phase 2 at C4! 🚧🏫

Phase 2 of the BCSC C4 Career & Technical Education Expansion will bring major new opportunities for students across the SCITR region. The project includes two new Bio-Medical Laboratories 🩺, a Medical Assisting Classroom and Simulation Lab, a Dental Lab Classroom 🦷 with renovated prep areas, upgraded Nursing classrooms and labs, and expanded space for construction 🔨, welding ⚙️, and agricultural 🌱 programs.

These modernized learning environments will provide more hands-on learning experiences, improve safety, and inspire greater student participation while preparing students for employment, post-secondary education, and military enlistment opportunities.

This important project is funded through Indiana Economic Development Corporation READI dollars and BCSC funds, with READI 2.0 investing $1.16 million toward HVAC and electrical improvements that support the expansion.

An important regional READI project officially broke ground today in downtown North Vernon! 🎉🏗️

Community leaders, partners, and residents gathered to celebrate the future home of the Harmon Headquarters — a major investment in the heart of downtown and another example of regional momentum made possible through collaboration and vision.

This transformational project is being funded through a combination of IEDC READI funding, Redevelopment resources, and private investment. A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to fruition.

As Mayor Shawn Gerkin said during today’s ceremony: “The Harmons could have put their new headquarters anywhere in this country, and we’re so happy they chose to keep it right here in North Vernon.”

Harmon Group is a collection of companies that is a national player in construction and steel erecting industry, serving several Fortune 500 clients including Target Corporation and Cummins Inc. .

Today was a great day for North Vernon and for the future of the region. 👏

We are excited to see this READI 2.0 project taking off! We will look forward to some great improvements for the local community and awesome pictures.

Lincoln Park will be glowing after 11pm starting next week! Don't worry, no UFO's - just our team making strides on the new turf project. The park stays closed to the public during overnight work. The parking lots on Hawcreek Ave. will not be available. Please use the Hamilton Community Center & Ice Arena entrance to access the park. We promise the improvements will be worth the after-hours shine!!

Groundbreaking news! We are proud to help bring READI 2.0 funding to the Haw Creek Meadows project in Columbus, Indiana.

This $21.9 million initiative lead by Thrive Alliance & Gratus Development will convert a former nursing home into 64 new affordable homes for families at 30-60% AMI. The development includes an on-site childcare center, outdoor space, and a Foster Grandparent Program.

Supported by $2 million in READI funds and strong community partnerships, this project addresses the need for affordable housing and promotes workforce stability in Southeast Indiana. Construction is scheduled for completion in November 2026.
