ODNR will hold an open house on February 21 in McArthur to discuss proposed abandoned mine land projects in Perry County.

LEGAL NOTICE
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will host an open house meeting on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Zaleski ODNR Complex, 29371 Wheelabout Rd, McArthur, OH. 45651 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Please call 614-935-0785 for additional information regarding the open house.
The purpose of the open house meeting is to discuss proposed abandoned mine land projects that are proposed for construction in 2024. At the meeting, staff from the ODNR Division of Mineral Resources Management will be available to discuss environmental and public health and safety issues associated with Ohio's abandoned mines.
Staff will also present a list of proposed projects for Athens, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs and Perry counties. Funds are available for mines abandoned before Aug. 3, 1977, when legislation to address the issue of abandoned mine lands went into effect.
The following projects will be implemented utilizing federal grant funds allocated to Ohio as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. ODNR was awarded a $46.4 million dollar grant to fund abandoned mine reclamation during the 2022 five-year grant throughout the state's coal-mining region.
