As we celebrate 20 years of Women & Philanthropy at The Ohio State University, we’re honoring the impact of our past—and investing boldly in the future. Thanks to the collective generosity of our members and friends, tens of thousands of dollars are granted each year to research partners across the university.
Now, we’re inviting you to help us create even greater impact through this year’s grant pool challenge.
Meet our 2026 grant finalists:

Led by Dr. Tatiana Cuellar‑Gaviria, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, this research team is working toward a future where women with rare lung diseases are no longer told there are no curative options. Grant funding will support the development of safer, non‑viral gene therapies, advancing both effectiveness and long‑term safety. This project restores hope for patients while empowering women scientists through mentorship and leadership—ensuring women are driving the discoveries shaping the future of women’s health.
🐜 ANTS AS BIOSENSORS: Innovative Solutions for Early Cancer Diagnosis
Led by Dr. Rachelle Adams, Assistant Professor of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology, this interdisciplinary team explores how ants’ natural ability to detect chemical signals can improve early cancer diagnosis, particularly for underserved communities.
