🌟 WELCOME TO THE OCAAR BOARD, DR. KAMARIA TYEHIMBA!

We’re proud to welcome Dr. Kamaria Tyehimba to the OCAAR Board of Directors!

With more than 40 years of experience in public service, mental health, substance use treatment, and advocacy, Dr. Tyehimba has dedicated her career to supporting children, families, and communities.

Her extensive background includes leadership in addiction services, trauma-focused care, social work, and community advocacy. She currently serves as Vice President of Addiction Services at Talbert House and has trained hundreds of professionals throughout her career.

Dr. Tyehimba is a longtime advocate for children, families, and communities of color, with a passion for addressing trauma, substance use, poverty, and the social determinants of health.

Her accomplishments include the POCWA GEMS Award, 2017 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, and Urban Leaders Passion Award.

We’re excited to have Dr. Tyehimba’s experience, leadership, and passion for recovery and advocacy as part of the OCAAR family.

September is a time to celebrate recovery, hope, and the strength it takes to create positive change.

National Recovery Month helps raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind our communities that recovery is possible.

At OCAAR, we believe education and connection are powerful tools for supporting recovery and building stronger communities.

We’re excited to now offer recovery education in both English and Spanish, expanding access to valuable information and creating more opportunities for individuals, families, and communities to learn, connect, and grow in recovery.
