Dear UOAA Advocates,
Alongside many partners and stakeholders, UOAA is fiercely defending access to ostomy and urological supplies under Medicare by mobilizing efforts to keep ostomy and urological supplies out of Medicare’s Competitive Bidding Program. We are at a critical point in our efforts and need to show the Administration and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) the widespread opposition to competitive bidding for these supplies.
With upcoming elections in all 435 districts, your Member of Congress needs your vote, so this is the perfect time to demand they protect our community.
This summer, UOAA is launching the "Get Local Get Vocal" campaign. We need you to meet with your U.S. Representative while they are home during the August recess. Every Member of Congress needs to understand the threat and crisis facing the ostomy community. This regulatory change could threaten reliable access to the supplies that many people depend on every day to live healthy, productive lives. We need Congress to ask the Administration to STOP the inclusion of these supplies in Medicare's Competitive Bidding Program immediately.
There are 3 easy steps to follow:
1) "Find your legislator" and their contact information here and click on your "Representative".
2) Call the District office phone number.
3) State your name, where you live, and request a meeting in the "District office". You may need to call multiple times to get on the calendar, but be persistent.
While you are on the call, you can also ask if your Representative is hosting any public events such as Town Hall Meetings or Listening Sessions during the summer recess. If yes, it is another opportunity to make your voice heard (and bring other supporters with you!).

I will provide you with a leave-behind handout and talking points with specific "asks" of your representative to help you have a successful meeting. Additionally, if you attend a public event, we may be able to assist with press coverage.
Let's work together to get meetings scheduled across the United States this summer! Imagine the message we could send to Congress if advocates met with representatives in all 50 states!
